doctor deferring his rating to another...
good day all,
im in arizona, first of all. the jist of my story is i recently had my left leg amputated due to a recurring infection from previous surgeries as a result of a car accident while working. whew. ok, also i suffered seizures as a result of this accident for a year or so. i have been seizure free for over a year. i am back to work, no effects whatsoever on my health, with the exception that i now take drugs to control them. i just saw my neurologist yesterday, and he said he is ready to rate me out, but said he will declare me medically stationary while deferring a rating to my orthopedist, who is ready to rate me out as well. the last step will be getting my final socket for my prosthesis in a couple months. i think that this is REALLY good news for me, as there will not be an official rating on my seizures, correct? i am hoping to receive the scheduled disability award for the amputation, but having a rating for my head injury would, believe it or not, wipe that award out and transfer it to an unscheduled disability, which would not pay me anything since i am working. anyway...sorry if this does not make sense, i just want to make sure that i am understanding this correctly. my neurologist even mentioned that he is deferring because he did not want to adversely effect any award i might be getting because the laws are so crazy and touchy. anyway..thanks in advance! |

Other than just a rating for settlement, I would tell you, to get a Medical Estimate for the prosthesis, as they do need replacement every so many years. And get the estimate added to your settlement.

Bad Boy Bad Boy Wrote:Other than just a rating for settlement, I would tell you, to get a Medical Estimate for the prosthesis, as they do need replacement every so many years. And get the estimate added to your settlement. hey bad boy, it is my understanding from what ive been told is that my workers comp will cover any new prosthesis for life. i know my Neurologist recommended that I get quarterly visits with him, as well as my medication paid for. i know im very lucky after reading everything everyone on here has been through...every penny has been paid for, i havent had to pay a dime out of pocket for anything. and trust me, its been a constant battle for over two years now. question then...this award for a scheduled disability, for loss of leg, isnt that actually called a settlement award? i believe that is actually required by law, no? |

I would rather think it's called more of an Award then a settlement.
