JerryC,

You might want to talk to the bank and explain it is a WC check from an insurance company. Holds aren't usually put on those type of checks. Usually just personal checks.

I talked to them until I was blue in the face. It didnt do any good, but I am going to actually go down there and talk to the bank manager tomorrow.

RE: Score one for the little guy
Why would they have to keep the check for a month? I just took my permanent impairment award and opened a new bank account. My money was available in two buisness days and I have to wait 10 days to get my debit card in the mail. It was a check from the insurance co. and I also agree that a check from an insurance co. or any other type of check that is not a personal one should clear within a few buisness days.

Why do they want to wait a month? What was their reason? If you do not get any answers, I would take the check back and put it in another bank. There is no reason that I could think of as to why they would make you wait so long.

RE: Score one for the little guy
Way to go J.!!

Yes, xome banks will put a hold on a large check. They want to make sure it clears before they will release the funds,

I have a good reputation with our bank, even had savings, (not enough to cover my lg. settlement check though), and they still made me wait for 10 days. If I remember right, I was allowed to use about $400. of it and that was all. They even called my attorneys office to make sure the check was legite!!

You would think that coming from and insurance co, they would waive the wait, but I guess even ins. companys can have insufficient funds as well!

Hang in there, its yours, or will be soon!!

wishes for a pain-free day!

Different banks, different rules. Mine also told me only a part of my back pay would be available immediately and I would have to wait about a week to have the rest available.
