Social security hearing
I was injured in Dec 2006 and finally filed for ssi and ssdi in August 2007. I was denied twice while awaiting surgeries.
In January 2008 we requested a hearing on this matter. Finally in July 2008 (19 months after injury ) I had my first surgery which was a cervical fusion. last dr visit yesyerday said fusion is healing bt not quite healed yet and i am to see him in 6 more weeks. After neck is healed then we are to do surgery on shoulder. Dr alredy told me i have permanent nerve damage due to the delay is having srgery to the neck discs. I am in maryland does anyone know how long it takes to get a ssi hearning? I will be of work 2 years . Thanks for any help "Laughter is the tonic, the relief, the surcease for pain" |

RE: Social security hearing
every states waiting time is different depending on backlog.....call your local SS office and see if they can tell you about how long it will take
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....

RE: Social security hearing
Hi,
Also, I was denied twice already and waiting for ssdi hearing since Jan 08. My lawyer said, due to backlog, we are lucky if we can see Alj judge in two years. I am in Washington state. But what I heard, congress stepped in and trying to outsource severe backlogs to other states where the backlog is not that bad. Lawyer also told me, they can request emergency hearing if something is very serious where applicants can't wait too long, I think one of them is being homeless. Good luck. Kat |

RE: Social Security Hearing
My husband met with the Admin Judge (TN) on July 30th of this year. The 2nd denial was 7-12-07. He originally filed in 9-06. His was approved and I wish you luck.
He has had the neck fusion C3/4 in 09/07. And spinal fusion from L1 to L5-S1 on 7-31-08. DDD and Stenosis in neck and back. Rod in the left leg from hip to ankle 10 years ago. The biggest question that the Judge has is he looks at the medical evidence and then will ask the Voc witness what work you have done and what Voc feels you can do based on your limitations. My husbands was only approved for 3 years. From what I understand that is standard. He is 48, alot of it is based on age and education. Always believe in yourself. No matter how much some people will make you doubt yourself. |
