Need help on workers comp case
My husband has recently injured his back on the job. We filed a case and got a lawyer. We have been struggling with them since we filed the case. He went to the doctor and they said that he should go to physical therapy 3 times a week. He did this for about 2 weeks. After the second week he went back for a check up. The doctor was in the room for no more than 5 minutes and told him he was released to light duty. After his first day back at work he was in so much pain he couldn't get out of the bed. So I took him back to the doctor and he said that the MRI was clean so there was nothing wrong with him. After 1 week of pain it came down to pay day. His boss didn't cut him a check for his work because he said that the work he was doing wasn't bringing him any money. So after that we decided that he was going to have to quit. Now a days you can't afford to work and not get paid for it. We also had to move because we couldn't afford to stay there anymore. So we moved and I called my lawyer to get his doctor changed. She said that they can't transfer his doctor. How is this I thought that they could they can't force you to drive 2 hours to see a doctor. Our lawyer said they have never seen a case this bad in their 31 years so now I am on my own because they aren't really helping us anymore. Can anyone give me some helpful tips or hints. Anything will be greatly appreciated. Thank You

RE: Need help on workers comp case
workers comp rules are based on each state's laws. without knowing yours we can't be specific.
Not being paid for his time is very fishy. I don't know what kind of contract he had with the employer but I would have your husband contact the local labor commissioner; sounds like a labor law violation.
the laws on changing doctors vary by state and in some states doctors can be 2 hrs away from a workers residence.
you can change attys at any time; if your husband doesn't approve of current service he should consider getting another.
some states will restart disability if the employer can't provide lite work. if yours does, the fact that your husband quit may have complicated getting it again.
each state has a website that explains basic work comp information.
