Cobra
Hi guys, I am the nurse who became injured on the job. I was diagnosed with cervical radiculopathy not to mention other diagnoses. My question is if you are injured on the job can your employer drop your medical benefits. I have been out of work since the end of March, they dropped my benefits due to lack of hours worked. I was offered Cobra and you can imagine the cost per month. Is this suppose to be, even though I got hurt on the job?

RE: Cobra
jimmy01- sorry to say this is something that alot of companies do while you are out on w/c, after you have used up your FML, vaction, and sick time. If you have children under 18 check with public aide about medical coverage or if you can afford to pay the cobra, you can keep your insurance for up to 18 months while off.
May God send his angels to hold you in his arms |

RE: Cobra
Sorry Jimmy but yes this is the norm. My claim was denied. Once I used all my vacation and sick time and of course the 12 weeks of FMLA I had to pay my own insurance at the cost of $1100 a month. When the Judge decided in my behalf my employer started to pay the premiums again and re-imbursed me for what I had paid out over mabe 8 months. This is my employers policy to do this for 3 years for an IW. Not many would. My supervisor hates me but my employer has treated me well through my recuperation time. I don't know many that do.
CAP God is never late. In the end it doesn't matter how many years were in your life but how much life was in your years. |
