Discrimination?

RE: Discrimination?
That's so ironic jayne. I told my husband he should tape every single conversation he has at work!! In a nutshell, his employers don't really care about the workers as long as they are making the bosses lots of money so they can buy new trucks (I am not lying).
The only really great thing about his job is that if there is lots of work, he would bring in lots of overtime (that would allow his employer to charge the customers outrageous amounts of money-i.e. insurance cases) Now that he is limited, I think they are trying to find ways to cut his hours.
Can his bosses object to having taped meetings?
Thanks for the post.

RE: Discrimination?
My husband would definitely inform whoever he was taping. It's illegal here to tape conversations without consent. My question was, if he wanted to tape a conversation between him and the big boss, can the big boss deny it and then reprimand him for wanting to do so?

RE: Discrimination?
I don't think reprimand. But the Boss doesn't have to consent, and I know I surely wouldn't want to neither.

RE: Discrimination?
the working kids at a local drive in were being verbally abused and cursed at constantly when parents complained the manager just said they just dont want to work and I dont treat them any different than I do my adult workers which was true she cursed them all...Becca took in a tape recorder caught 4 hrs of constant abuse she took it to the main boss and let him hear it...while not admissable in court the manager was given a co manager from the main office and she soon quit....

RE: Discrimination?
You can't tape a meeting without all parties consent.

Cal. Penal Code §§ 631, 632: It is a crime in California to intercept or eavesdrop upon any confidential communication, including a telephone call or wire communication, without the consent of all parties.

It is also a crime to disclose information obtained from such an interception. A first offense is punishable by a fine of up to $2,500 and imprisonment for no more than one year. Subsequent offenses carry a maximum fine of $10,000 and jail sentence of up to one year.

Eavesdropping upon or recording a conversation, whether by telephone (including cordless or cellular telephone) or in person, that a person would reasonably expect to be confined to the parties present, carries the same penalty as intercepting telephone or wire communications.

Conversations occurring at any public gathering that one should expect to be overheard, including any legislative, judicial or executive proceeding open to the public, are not covered by the law.

Anyone injured by a violation of the wiretapping laws can recover civil damages of $5,000 or three times actual damages, whichever is greater. Cal. Penal Code § 637.2(a). A civil action for invasion of privacy also may be brought against the person who committed the violation. Cal. Penal Code § 637.2.

RE: Discrimination?
I think we'll just have to wait this out and see what his boss wants to do with him.

Is there anyone out there that has had experience with the education voucher? Do they help with job placement?

If my husband does this, we will have no income until he gets a job. Is there monetary aid available to our family to ease the load of paying bills, groceries, etc.?

RE: Discrimination?
If its a meeting, it may be overheard but the reasonable expectation is that it would be confined to those attending.
