I do not know the proper way to tell you this, except I smell a fish!!! A IME exam will hopefully tell them you do not need the surgery and this is what they want. Some people on here were very lucky the IME exam was in their favor. Remember this is the IC's doctor and they will pay this doctor to hear what they want.

You need to get yourself a second opinion to back up your doctor in case this IME doctor says you do not need it. This website has been passed around here during my time of the IME exam. Very helpful information. Good luck.

thank you for that information, i will study it. If they say i don't need the surgery, what happens after that? do i not take my meds that day so they will know what i am dealing with? even when i take my meds i am not pain free, but when i don't take them i really do suffer. thank you for your help

RE: IC is setting me up with an IME
First off, I would think after the lenght of time you waited for an approval, would you would be seen by a Doctor or Surgeon of the IC's choice for their own medical opinion. It's just kind of a normal thing they will do.
The question is, what kind of Doctor do you have that states you need surgery? Then base that on, what type of Doctor is the IC having you seen by, for the IME? Only a qualified Doctor or Surgeon in my opinion should be performing the IME.
It's always good advice to obtain a second opinion now. And it's even better advise to tell you right after the IME, you should be re-examed by the Doctor that said you need surgery, for a complete and full update on your medical status. Doing this, will only support you medical case better. Then if the IME report is in your favor, you lost nothing but a little time. But if the IME report does not become in your favor, then you have 2 other medical reports that will support you.

Why, and what do you mean you have to go out of town? Can't they find a Doctor with-in your area that will support your driving restrictions? Or, you better call and have them change to a closer doctor is all.

But better yet, when you getting an Attorney????

[bad boy, i just made an appointment with the attorney. you say i should get a second opinion, am i doing that at their expense? remember they have to aprove that too!, when the ic lady called me she was trying to find someone in my area, and she could only come up with the dr i already have and other drs ln that field in the same facility. she asked me what cities are neighboring me to see if she could find somewhere for me to go. thanks again for your help.

RE: IC is setting me up with an IME
jstadfrntpn, I had to get them to pay for my second opinion. But if time isn't on your side, you may have to pay for it. I have paid for certain things myself. Like I had paid for another medical opinion, a FCE computerized test performed, and some other things. Sometimes time isn't always on our side, and we then have to do what we must do.
