I broke my hip in February. I have been complaining about pain in groin, pelvis and buttocks since March. The WC doctor blew off my reports. After 90 days I quit seeing the WC doctor and went to my own orthopedist. I am still using a cane, not weight bearing and have physical therapy 3 times a week, my own orthopedist said he doesn't know what is causing the pain and gave me a full return to work, no restrictions. I am a teacher, who must climb stairs on a daily basis. I cannot sit for any extended period of time.

What are the ramifications of returning to the WC doctor?

i had spinal fusion two years ago before and after the surgery a had and still do have groin and hip pain.my ortho said some is from nerve damage and some is from swelling.as far as the wc dr i think ur going to be in the same boat as the rest of use,you will fight to get things taken care of.sorry to say but thats how it works sometimes.did you get cleared to see ur own ortho?hopefully they wont use that against you if you didnt ask them first to see another dr.did wc pay for you to see the other dr?if wc has stopped taking care of you and ur still having problems then you may need to see a wc lawyer might not hurt to talk to on.good luck sorry for ur pain.

Your pain sounds like it's coming from the back to me. You may have injured your back by walking differently because of your hip problems.

Knowing Your State would Help Us to be a bit More Specific, but if You are still feeling Pain, it could be as Cap. has Mentioned, being Caused by an Altered Gait. Ask Your PT if they feel that this May be the Problem, and ask them for a Referral to a Specialist that they think May be able to Help You. You May also need an Attorney that Specializes in w/c to File a Petition for You for a Delay on Your Return to Work, but again by not knowing Your State, it's tough to know which way to Guide You. Hi mrmpgh... welcome to the forum. Often even though you may have a surgery to correct one problem, another problem may be experienced such as in your case. Can you describe your pain. Is it sharp with movement, or does it feel heavy and stiff etc. Also what causes it? Do you have pain when you sleep or is it during movement only. What do you take to relieve it? Also once it is triggered and the pain begins how long does it last with and without any treatment. This would help me answer you question more intelligently. Thanks Red
