Laid off after knee injury
I injured my knee just a few weeks ago and I am now awaiting surgery for it. Granted I didnt let the injury stop me from performing my work. I finished a pretty decent size project this past week and at the end of the day i was informed that i was being laid off due to shortage of work. I thought it was a bit strange though that the owner of the company terminated me the day before i had a scheduled MRI. And emphasis was made that I needed to have my knee fixed. Before even calling back to see if work picks up again. And for the record it is not like I was a problem employee. I have a clean jacket no disciplinary action of any kind, perfect attendance and good craftmanship skills. I was wondering if this sounds like i was wrongfully terminated and should I seek legal assistance.

RE: Laid off after knee injury
sounds like they are trying to distance them selves from you...was it a WC injury?

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

If You are in the Union, You May want to Speak to Your Rep, and See what they think. If You aren't in the Union, Most Attorneys that deal in w/c have a Free Consultation, You May want to Speak to a few and see what they have to Say! Also, start Documenting Every bit of Correspondence with Your Co., even Phone Calls, and Start Reading and getting Yourself Familiar with Your States w/c Rules and Regulations. Better to be Prepared if things go wrong. My Best to You, and Have a Great Weekend!!Wink

Failed Back Surgery, Chronic Pain, Totally Disabled.

Knowledge is Power, Especially in the World of w/c. Learn as Much as You can about Your States w/c Laws, and don't Fight Battles alone, They Use Attorney's, and so Should You!!

RE: Laid off after knee injury
If you feel that you have been terminated in a discriminative manner because of your injury...maybe seek councel from a lawyer well versed in EEOC....along with a WC attorney.
Good luck to you plumber! LillySmile

Injured worker, & tired of it all! I'm too old for games!!
