knee injury in kansas
Hello all, I injured my knee in August of 07. Had surgery on my medial meniscus. Looks like he took a pretty big chuck out of it. I did 6 weeks of physical therapy and was left on restrictions. In April I had a second knee surgery, this time he did a lateral release. I am about done with therapy and I really think the doc has my knee fixed from the injury. It still doesn't feel like it did before the injury, but alot better than it did. I am ready for all this to be over. The doctors and company have been very nice thorought this whole thing. My question is what will happen now. Should I expect a settlement offer? How much? Will I have to sign that I agree it has been taken care of? I am 27 years old. I just want to get some peoples feedback on this, I have never been through anything like this and don't know what to expect.

Thanks

RE: knee injury in kansas
There are several different questions that need to be answered. Were you able to return to your original job? Do you have any permanent impairment? In Kansas, if you returned to your job without permanent impairment, there should not be any additional money on settlement if they have paid your TTD. If you have a functional impairment, you should recieve a settlement on the % of disability you have. If you weren't able to return to your original position and pay, you may be able to recieve a wage disability settlement. Good luck and welcome!

RE: knee injury in kansas
Meniscus type injuries heal better when a person is young like you.

(EXAMPLE) For a normal simple settlement is some where around $10,000.00. Like I said this is an example. But generaly not much more or less than that.

The rest falls on what the others are saying to you also.

$5,000,000.00 if you buy the winning lottery ticket. Otherwise not much.

RE: knee injury in kansas
Thanks for the replies. The meniscus was tore in the part that won't heal, so he had to cut it out. My surgeon said it was the worst one he had seen in a person my age. The injury was caused by a heavy object and he said it actually crushed my meniscus and showed me the orangeish color to the menuscus. I returned to work the same job and pay. I am ready for all this to be over. I am not looking to get rich off this deal, just would be nice to get back some of the money it has costed me, loss of overtime etc. I have a egg on the side of my knee the doc said I would always have from the lateral release. My knee cracks and pops alot and just aches alot, but I can live with it. How long will it take for them to tell me it's all over or that I am a % disabled or what not. Should I get a second opinion on my knee or just call it good?

thanks alot for the help

overtime in my state doesnt figure into wages only 40 hours ... You should have been told the rating number by the treating doctor ... 2nd opinion is done if you or lawyer think that rating is low .... click on state infro at the top and learn what you can about your state .

RE: knee injury in kansas
As I said I just had this surgery done. The Popping and cracking will stop in a short time. Proper PT Therapy, strenghtening the knee and leg muscles will help the healing. After a few months you won't even know you had it done. You will see in time.
