RE: broken jaw
I would say that those symptoms of the headache, neck etc. can all be from the fracture. When i had a bad toothache in the back of my mouth and TMJ it caused headaches and is connected to the ear bone. It is terrible pain as you may be experiencing.

I would think a ortho doctor would be one of the doctors you would contact to get looked at. I am not to sure other than that of what to do next.

carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD.
1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10%

RE: broken jaw
Hi there,
So sorry to hear of your injury...it has to be very painful. I once broke my upper cheek bone (from a direct horse kick to the temple) and i can tell you, I had all sorts of pains in seemingly unrelated places on my head and neck. The pressure behind my face and in my head when I leaned forward, or bent over, was excruciating! The doctor did a simple test on me...he used his pointie finger outstretched, and put downward pressure on the bridge of my nose with the side of the finger...and i thought I'd pass out! He then said...whoops, you're not ready to go back to work yet. I would imagine if you do any bending over in your work and if you feel the same painful pressure as i did....you really aren't fit to work. I had vision problems, dizziness, severe headaches, neck outta whack, pain months after injury, etc...let alone difficulties eating.
I do know that broken jaws can even cause sore throats!

What type of surgery did you have, & how did you break your jaw at work?
IMO You need to be seeing a Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. If your present surgeon wants to send you back to work, and you don't feel ready, discuss this with him....and be prepared to give examples as to why you feel this way.

No offence, but your post almost hints of not wanting to return to work....hopefully , this is not the case....and you simply feel you're just not fully healed yet.

If your workplace is one of those who has "no mercy" on a person when returning from med leave...then you should discuss this w/MD also. Most of the doctor's will ask you about this specifically. BUT...then again, we're talking WC docs, and they know no mercy.
take care, Lilly Smile

RE: broken jaw
has your neck been scanned to see if there were cervical injurys as well? then there PTSD which could be factored in.....what kind of job and how did you get hurt?please ask for a cervical MRI to rule out neck injury

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

I worked at a liquor store and was assaulted by another employee who was drinking on the job which created an unsafe work place.
He sucker punched me .I had a prob w/ his work ethics went to a manager he told the person about my prob w/ him he confronted me which resulted in an assault .
Im pretty sure they ruled out any injury to the back but my symptoms say otherwise thanx for the info Big Grin

RE: broken jaw
Hi,
Don't give up on trying to get medical help. If you are still in pain, ask to see another doc. Just because one doc has said he has done all he can for you, there is another doc that can help!
I hope the "sucker puncher" got s*** canned !
