RE: insurance
Hi Hurt.... Have you tried Welfare's medical assistance ? Medicare through SSD? I hope something works for you. It's frightening. I have wonderful health insurance which I will not have the day I settle my WC case. I will have to resign and then it will be alot of $$$$$$$$$$. My husband has cancer so that pre-exisiting clause will be a problem for us. Best of luck. CAP God is never late. In the end it doesn't matter how many years were in your life but how much life was in your years. |

RE: insurance
Also you can look int your county/state and see if they have medical clinics. In VA, most counties have these clinics (and I know CA has them as well). It is for those who are not able to get insurance either because it is not offered to them at work or they can not affort the premiums. The price of going to the clinic is on a sliding scale fee, so anyone without ins. can get help. Its just the more you make, the more you pay...or visa versa.
Good luck, Lorie |

RE: insurance
I know cobra is expensive but that is always an option. Also if you have been continually covered, most times the pre-existing clause is non-existent these days. The thing you need is a letter saying that you have been continually covered for the amount of time that the pre-existing clause is.
Even when I was on cobra and switched to drillers insurance, I had no pre-existing clause to deal with because of the letter saying I was covered continually. |

RE: insurance
hi pooh the bad thing is that was my cobra coverage thats ending but everyone keeps looking at my back and they see i need more work done.all they see is how much it will cost them if something needs done or goes wrong they just say no.i also found out to day that if you have law suit against ur employer other than wc and i do,my attorney told me you get penlised on the money end for filing for ssd.thats crap and i wont get as much even if you have not got ssd yet you still get some of the money reduced.i think thats wrong but between this and wc suit gotta get something or what you can.

RE: insurance
Pooh ... Thanks for reminding me that without a lapse in coverage that pre-existing clause is waived. CAP

RE: insurance
Hurt at Work, and others. My Brother-in-Law which is also in Indiana, has had the same problems since he had a minor heart attack. He needed to obtain home owners insurance, and they want to rip him a new one also. There isn't much justice once one is injured or became ill with these insurance companies. But they are being sued every day, just for these issues being talked about here.
