new here and confused
Hello,
I am new here. I was injuried at work over 2 months ago. They accepted my claim but denied time loss and are fighting part of my medical. I orginally had a depostion scheduled for end of July for further treatment and now it has been moved to next week. I have had the hardest time trying to get any answers from anyone. The dr. never talk to you just state they will send a report to the insurance. If i am the patient shouldn't they be explaining everything to me????? |

RE: new here and confused
that's one of things that makes comp different. It's not your claim or your doctor. as long as the employer is paying it gives them most of the control.
i also think it depends on the issues. medical issues involving treatment should definately be discussed with the patient; decisions on benefits and liability may be reserved for the bill payer. |

RE: new here and confused
I guess I am old fashioned and beleive in good customer service and I am getting none. so far the employer has not paid any medical bills, time loss etc. All bills have still been sent to myself stating WC denied.
I am the person injuried so i should be told everything when it comes to my care etc. I have info on here as well under WC Neurologist???? and forgot the other one. all from today. I was told I should not be on here so I loged off and erased my info. in the profile. |

RE: new here and confused
The HIPPA law allows for everyone to get a copy of their medical reports. Usually you will have to put it in writing and sometimes there is a small copying fee. But I highly suggest that you always get a copy of anything that is done to you and keep a W/C file at your house. As you have found out, they won't help you, if they can help it. They basically see you as the enemy...you are the one who is costing them money (how dare you, right?) I understand expecting some compassion and to expect for them to take care of your medical needs. It is a very disheartening when you 1st start out in the system.
Do you have a lawyer? I would also go and talk to a few and see what they have to say. Many states have free consultations for the 1st meeting. Also, read everything you can on your states w/c website. I learned a lot of things that I was due that W/C had never told me. Keep track of your mileage too. You should be able to get mileage comming and going to Drs. appnt. and to get your meds. Good luck and keep us posted. |

RE: new here and confused
Hi.
Do not be afraid to use this site. If you are cautious, and do not tell every detail, you will be fine & feel safer. Your state, and injury (just say back injury) is needed in your profile for anyone to give you assistance. No need for birthdate, gender, date of injury, town and specifics. Besides that, the WC case workers have so many claims they are working on at the same time...they aren't going to figure out anything on here. Have no fear, Lilly
Injured worker, & tired of it all! I'm too old for games!! A careless word may kindle strife, a cruel word may wreck a life, a timely word may level stress, and a loving word may heal and bless! |
