RE: Back from surgery
My doctor is looking into having this done to me for my wrist/ arm/pain. I use my tens unit everyday and it helps so much to sit here and type with it on. Amazing how good it feels when i have it on, but when i take it off, back to normal pain.
I have not tried a pain patch on my arm yet, so i really would like to try all other options first. I am so sick of relying on pills everyday. Eventually they do not work as well. I either need a change in my meds, or a new idea to use instead of pills. Thanks for the info on the stimulator. I will see the doctor the end of May that is making the decisions. carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD. 1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10% |

RE: Back from surgery
Sorry, I am a little confused. Did you have the one done or the pemanent one??
As far as the bending goes, It was about a month after I had the permanent one implated that I bent over. The scare tissue had not completely formed aroung the scs and it pulled away from it. OUCH!!! P.S. Advanced Bionics has changed names to Boston Scientific Take Care. 8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. RE: Back from surgery
AGA_I had the permanent one implanted. Thanks for letting me know about what happened to you and bending after a month. I am sorry that it happened to you, but I will be that much more careful. I know there are times that I start to bend and then remember to stop. I would guess that by a month, I will give in at times, so I will be that much more aware of what I am doing. Is there anyway of knowing when the scar tissue has formed completly? I just read the booklet that came with it and I did not know that I should not raise my arms above my head and I also did not know that lifting anything over 5 lbs. can cause additional vibrations. I truly hope I don't unconciously do something to mess this up. I am afraid when I go back to work, I may get caught up with work and will automatically do something that I should not do. I think as long as my incisions still hurt...I will be aware of ea. of my motions. If my recovery time is anything like my other surgeries, I will be ok. I tend to heal slower and the pain of the trial stimulator lasted for 5 weeks instead of 2. So, I am sure I will be ok from making any wrong move.

RE: Back from surgery
If there is a way, I am unaware of it. I do not know when mine completely healed. I can now bend to a point before I fell it in the back, but it is not from the scarring to completely heal. It is a completely different pain.
I know what you mean about it stopping the pain in the buttox and not the ankle and foot. Any relief is better than no relief. Read the booklet that came with it. There should be a chapter about error codes. I have only had one. As far as recharging the scs goes. I have found that it takes six hours. If the controller tells you it needs to be recharged, just push the P button again and you can controll the scs as usuall, but you will need to recharge it soon. That last paragraph was based on you having the same model as I do. Take Care. 8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins.
