acupuncture
[/font]Hi all.
My w.c. denied me acupucnture. I went to my PC to get a referal from him so I could go on my own insurance. He said ir was a w/c issue and my insurence wouldnt cover it. He also acted like I was trying to scam the system. I thought that is why you have insurance? Any one else been there? |

RE: acupuncture
This is very interesting since I just recently considered asking my doctor for permission to see an acupunturist. I'm at MMI and my payments have stopped but my arms are flaring up again and I know an acupuncturist in the area that performs a lot of miracles. I don't think they are going to approve it though. I will let you know if I am able to find out anything on the subject.

RE: acupuncture
To my understanding no personal health insurance will pay any medical on a WC injury UNLESS the IC has denied it. Then your treating DR. bills your personal insurance and includes the "Notice of Denial " from the WC IC> It's the claim being denied we're talking about here not a specific treatment. Hope this helped. CAP God is never late. In the end it doesn't matter how many years were in your life but how much life was in your years. |

RE: acupuncture
it's not really your insurance. it's the employer's and they've really tighted up in the last few years as medical costs have skyrocketed.
you might be able to provide accupuncture on your own and then when you can show that it's been successful go to the work comp court and get reimbursed. |

RE: acupuncture
1171 ... I'm not quite sure I understand that. Right now my employer is paying for my health insurance BUT for a time I paid it while out on this claim to the tune of $1100.00 a month and would have been really pissed if I couldn't use it because my employer turned something down. If the insurance co. did I would look at it differently but I really don't see why/how/where the employer owns any employee's personal health insurance. Did I misunderstand? CAP God is never late. RE: acupuncture
I believe 1171 was Referring to the w/c Portion of the Persons Claim as Being the Employers Ins. Cap. As far as using Your Own, You know as Well as I that if they get Wind it's a w/c Claim, they will Deny. I Hope You are Feeling Better Cap., and All is going Well!

RE: acupuncture
Limbo.. I'm doing one day at a time. Thanks for asking. I believe the original post was in regards to the poster using his personal health insurance since WC denied acupuncture. Not too many IC's will approve it but I believe the poster's question is about his Dr. telling him his own insurance won't pay for it. You're right, we are both aware of the problems that can arise BUT my personal insurance paid for all of my medical for 14 months until the Judge decided in my favor. All bills had to be submitted with a "notice of Denial" to be paid. That's why 1171 confused me. I believe the poster is talking about his/her personal insurance and 1171 is talking aobut WC which I understand belongs to the employer. The poster needs to be clearer. IF WC accepted his claim and is just denying acupuncture of course his own insurance won't pay it. I don't think he spelled that out or I really missed something. CAP

RE: acupuncture
Don't we have rights??? If acupuncture could correct the problem, wouldn't Workers Comp want to take any avenue possible? Is there a way that you could appeal their denying it???

A lawyer might .....I was given 10 visits to see if it would help....it didnt .....I just imagine its up to each state on this one....
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....
