RE: Any Other Costco Injured Employees here?
I was in Radio from 1977 to 1986, Television from 1986-1988, TV & Radio 1988-1990, Radio again 1993, TV 1996-1997, and started my own company in 1999 to 2007. I've written, voiced, produced or edited over 25,000 Commercials between radio and television (in small Odessa/Midland, to medium El Paso, and major markets like Dallas Fort Worth). Nationally, video camera credits in two PBS Documentaries (1999) and one Feature Film (2001). Several regional documentaries, religious media from 2002-2004, and private business and non profit projects from 2005-present. Probably the best work was contributing to the 1999 Documentary THE LORDS OF THE MAFIA hosted & produced by Robert Stack. I have a credit for about 50 video clips along side NBC news Archives and another cameraman. Also in a second show part of that production. Perpetually on PBS for eternity (I suspect) that may wind up on cable or some satellite network at some point.
Its more relevant today with the present drug wars in El Paso/Juarez Mexico though sadly little news coverage nationally. Costco was supposed to be a holiday band aid that grew into a several month part time opportunity, originally to pay my Blue Cross/Blue Shield private insurance and have opportunity to pay for the Costco insurance if I made it 6 months. Plans now (post these injuries) is to teach (in a safer occupation) with full benefits of teaching. I'm presently working on a historical project documenting the memories of WWII veterans in the DFW area with plans at some point to produce a documentary of my own. I should produce something on workers injuries -- but suspect funding may be harder to come by. I would point news departments to do a regular feature in their given markets on just 'how hard' people work, how little they are compensated, and how few actually have affordable insurance. This (here) is a subject that should be a lot more attention as companies take advantage (sometimes) of their own employees. |

RE: Any Other Costco Injured Employees here?
tvproducer, Welcome to the forum!
I am so sorry about your injury and what you are now forced to go through. Most of us on here have some sad, and downright sadistical lack of proper and timely medical treatments & payments..... due to WC/IC games. You have an impressive & very interesting background...Maybe you CAN help us ....especially since you have first hand knowledge of what the IC does to people! Many here have lost homes, been evicted, forced to live in shelters, can't get medical treatments, needed surgeries cancelled at last moment, meds withheld, extreme pain ignored, bankruptcy ect....it would make a great documentary to inform the public to NOT get injured at work. Some states are worse than others. I hope you are the ' saving grace ' with a camera! Take care & prayers to you, Lilly
Injured worker, & tired of it all! I'm too old for games!! A careless word may kindle strife, a cruel word may wreck a life, a timely word may level stress, and a loving word may heal and bless! |
