Question Help with my insurance?????????
Hello I'm new here I need some help. I was hurt on the job 2 weeks ago I have filed all the paper work and got every thing on track with WC. Where I work they pay for my personal insurance every month Like everone else there. I also have other things they supplie that they pay the bill for. My boss calls me and tells me that after 30 days that I would have to pick up and pay my own health insurance and other bills. My Doctor tells me that he dosn't know when I will go back to work. RE: Help with my insurance?????????
no they do not have to pay personal insurance for you or your family or any other benefits you were recieving as an employee.......if they have accepted your comp claim and are paying for that and your TTD then that is all by law you are intitled to.......that is why so many try to get back faster than maybe they should to protect their working benefits.Good luck and welcome to the forum

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

RE: Help with my insurance?????????
if your employment is covered by Family & Medical Leave Act they have to give you job protection for up to 12 weeks and offer the cobra option for your health insurance.
workers comp benefits don't provide free health insurance or make other payroll deductions when you are not receiving a regular paycheck.

RE: Help with my insurance?????????
From my experience, Cobra is horribly expensive. My husband recently changed jobs and even though his new insurance starts immediately his previous employer had to send him information about Cobra. For my husband only Cobra would have been about $450 a month (I think) and for a family of four it was around $1,200.

Look in your company handbook and make sure it doesn't say anywhere that the company will continue to pay health insurance premiums. It seems like someone here ran into that and since it was in the handbook, the employer had to comply. If nothing like that was stated in writing in your handbook, you may be able to pay the premuims yourself which should be a lot less than Cobra. I know, when you are on wc there isn't any extra money to pay for anything, but I hope this works out for you.

RE: Help with my insurance?????????
When i was injured at work, I was receiving WC...but , I had to pay my monthly insurance fee to continue my insurance that i had at work. This is far far cheaper than Cobra. Possibly they mean you must pay the insurance premium that you have at work.

RE: Help with my insurance?????????
I was out of work for 4 months and while i was out my work paid for my insurance and said that when i returned to work that they would take out alittle each week to pay it back.

I ended up finding another job while i was put on " light duty" and got a opportunity to have a better paying job, and they never charged me for anything since i have left. It has been since Oct. of last year that i gave my notice. I do not know about what your state/work says for what WC should do, but i would definitly find out as they may be responsible to pay your insurance for so many weeks like stated in the other posts.

carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD.
1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10%
