RE: MRI monday
Scar tissue isn't something that you can put a timeline on. Just like with medications, it effects each person differently. I knew with my first injury within 6 weeks, that I had a problem with scar tissue building up and had to have a scar revision done 5 months to the day of my first surgery. It was very easy to see that there was a problem with the scar.
On my ankle back in October, you couldn't see that there is a problem with scar tissue just by looking at the outside of the incision. I haven't had any x-rays or mri's done of the area since surgery, but when I run my hand over the scar with any kind of pressure, I can feel it. SO it comes down to how rapidly a person develops it within their own body. Angel ^j^ I've always been crazy, but it keeps me from going insane. ************ Happiness comes through doors you didn't even know you left open |

RE: MRI monday
Well this was a very helpful Thread. I wonder now if when i had my origional carpal surgery in 98 if that is what my problem is with my hand/wrist/shoulder. I requested a MRI from wc but they refuse to do it. Now if when i go for a IME this week and the doctor maybe able to ask for one, i would ask to have the contrast MRI to see if it is scar tissue. My emg shows slowing of the median nerve and worse each time it was done within two months. This could be my whole problem for all this pain as i feel it is just the way my arm/hand was when i origionally was diagnosed with carpal.
Thanks for the info, as now i will be able to finally get my MRI done of my right arm maybe after his IME. Somebody has to find out what is causeing me all this pain day after day constantly!!!!!! carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD. 1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10% |

RE: MRI monday
Hurt- the nerve damage can regrow, it is a very slow process. The neve grows at about 1/2 inch every 6 months. By the time my nerves regrows I will be well past retirement. My nerves were severed at the shoulder in 2003 and as of the last EMG has not improved and not expected to ever regrow now. Ask to see a plastic reconstruction specialist. If it can be fixed they are the one to do the surgery. Ask a lot of questions before under going the surgery. You want to know how many surgeries of this kind they have done and what the out come has been. RNvic
