two odd fellows
This morning as I lay in bed I heard something I shouldn't be hearing, at least not at this time of year. I heard the bugle of a bull elk. My first thought was a tourist was out looking for racks and was using an electronic call to try and entice a bull closer.....WRONG.... As I looked up the hill there was this huge bull bugling away. He was actually chasing a cow , raking his rack against the ground just as if it were full rut season. Now 6 months ago hearing this deep throated call would not have been odd, but this old boy must be slightly confused. As we watched the bull another one came up over the bank. He wasn't bugling he was just standing there with this forlorned look on his face. I got the scope out because something looked rather odd and as I got him in the scope I found out what it was. He has about 50 foot of well casing rope wrapped around his rack. Now if I can just keep an eye on them and one of them drops his rack I will be a very happy camper. I wonder if I can talk hubby into going up on the hill to grab the other end of that rope?

GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY AND OUR PRESIDENT!

RE: two odd fellows
Guess I need to go and research elk...I thought they grew their racks in late winter and spring and the rut was in fall then their racks dropped in late fall/winter. Guess I know nothing about elk puppies Sad
