hows every doing,I hope better than me, I was told yesterday my impairment amount and she said that what I had recieved already say 60 weeks would be taken away from 300 which is max and thats what I would get ,I thought what they paid to me in weekly checks this whole time was for my lost wages and that would not be taken away from my final settlement,can someone offer advice

In Kansas, however many weeks you received monetary benefits, is taken off of settlement except for 15 weeks of it. It sounds like Alabama is the same way.

In VA, I have been told to expect that they will take off what they have already paid you, from the final settlement.

This sounds like payment of Permanent Partial Disability payments, not final settlement. Alabama does reduce the 300 week maximum period for permanent partial by any weeks of TTD already paid. However, PPD benefits does not usually mean settlement in most states. I'm not sure about Alabama.

Try calling the Ombudsman's office 1-800-528-5166 for a better explanation.
