ssdi and workers comp. illinois
hi everyone, and thanks for the responses two weeks ago, .. i had major 2 level spinal fusion done six months ago and am still rehabbing .. i am collecting my weekly ttd and have an attorney and all that . does anyone know out there if a person can collect ssdi and workers comp at the same time? i am very curious and do not know.. i have been told by my doctor that i will never be able to go back to what i was doing and i will be entering the vocational rehab aspect sometime in the future . my company (non union) terminated 4 weeks after i got hurt almost two years ago , but thats life. now , my biggest challenge will be finding a new job at age 55 with no college. but my biggest question is can i collect workers comp ttd. and apply and hopefully receive social sec, disalbility ? any answers, responses , suggestions would be greatly appreciated... thanks,,,,

RE: ssdi and workers comp. illinois
yes you can ssdi may be offset by ttd but not normally much

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

RE: ssdi and workers comp. illinois
Jayne is correct. You can collect both at the same time. SSA rule that applies is that with wc and ss benifits combined can not exceed 80% of your before injury wages. Hence, your SS benifits would be reduced until the time that your wc payments end.

8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins. Soilders died for our freedom.
