RE: Pain Management
I am looking forward to the visit with the PM Dr on Friday. I am so tired of all this back and leg pain. that I think if he would tell me he watned to put a SCS on Sat. I would be there. THe pain is so unbearable anymore that sometimes I just wish I could take something and operate on myself and fix it I would. Constant pain in the back and legs, knees and feet, so bad that when I get up I can barely stand up and walk. but yet the Occupationla Medicine Dr says I will continue to get worse and It will continue untill I can no longer take it. Man I have days when I feel like I can not take it anymore. But I just keep on going. SO I hope these Pain Dr.s have a solution for me, since they have told me that surgrey is not an option for me.

RE: Pain Management
Hi cervical fusion...I am so sorry that they can't do more for you. I am hoping and praying that the PM will have the answer that you need. Let us know how tomorrow goes.

RE: Pain Management
Best of Luck Cervical. Just a little thought, be sure to tell the PM Dr. all of your concerns. They don't usually view patients as whiners as some other Dr.'s do, they need to know all of your problems so that they can tackle them. My PM has been great, and does her best to take care of me!! GOOD LUCK and I hope you've found a good one!!

RE: Pain Management
Well today was the day. The visit was close to a 2 hour appointment. When i got there they had me filling out all kinds of papers. Got them filled out and then a woman brought me more papers to read and sing. All those were on how they dispense and control your meds. and how strick they are on your getting your prescriptions. and how they drug test u everytime u come in, and if they find u got a prescription from another dr they will not see u.. sounded like a buch of bull crap to. i am not goin to let anyone but my treating POR control my meds. those people are 50 miles away from my home, no way that could or would work for me. The main reason my POR sent me there was to see the dr there about a possible SCS not to turn my care over to them. But once I got past all the nurses and then I was seen by a Nurse Practioner she understood why I was there and that they were not going to control my meds and my scripts, They drug tested me when i got ther and before i left they made me go to the hospital lab for blood work. they wanted to check the fentanyl level in my blood strea. I am like well duh I do have a duragesic patch on. any way after being seen and examined by the nurse practioner, she gave me a complete check over and we talked about the pain and every thing that led up to my being there, refered there by a surgeon becasue he want do a 4 level fusion on me, and his recomendation is a SCS. She went over info on SCS and how they work and aare implanted. well she left the room and went and got the good pain mgnt dr. and we was just delighted that he had a patient in his room that was still employed and working. He is going to recomend to BWC that I have one. Again he went over the procedure with me and told me that once he puts the trial in that it would be totally up to me to tell him if it works or if it does not work, and that I would have the final decision on if it was implanted or not. and he told me that no I am not going to be comming there for my meds and prescriptions that my POR would continue my care. There was no way I would let them take over my care. hell I got the feeling that they thought everyone who walks in the door there was some kind of drug addict or abuser. They even had the nerve to ask me if I used street drugs, which I told them no but i watch the dealers sale them on the corner at work, whick they do and the cops know it and want do anything about it. what a city. good old inner city. The doctor said he would get everything set up for a trail for the spinal cord stimulator, gave me a VHS tape on them and I left and went and got the blood work they requested. Like what are they going to do with it, first I am not going back to that hospital for my meds anyway. SO i guess I will continue to wait and see what comp says and continue to see my POR as usually. Sorry I am ranting been a bad day overall.

RE: Pain Management
Good to hear from you...it sure sounds like you had a long long day. And if they would of just seen you for what your Dr sent you for you would of only been there for an hour. I have never had to do a drug test or sign that I would only get meds from one Dr. But I guess they are all different. I sure hope you hear from Comp soon and get the trial soon...so you will know if it will help you. Keep us updated.

RE: Pain Management
Yes I was glad when it was over to. And yes they drug test at every visit also. Hospital Procedure they said. I was going to get see about a spianl cord stimulator, not to have someone control every pill I take, and every script I get. My treating POR can do that. he is only 2 miles from my house.. I will not drive 60 miles one way just to pick up a script and have to fight to get off work to get there by the time they close and only one the days that they are open. no thank you. it is hard enough now trying to get off work and work in 2 dr appts a month as it is. But I do want to try the Spinal cord stimulator. the only issue i had ther was with the nurses and all that crap paper work. but like I said once I got past the nurses they evrything was better. Now just wait for that Pain Mgnt Dr to write comp and request the SCS. SO we hurry up and wait again and play the comp games. LET THE GAMES BEGIN
