My story is more than my injury!

Question My story is more than my injury!
I wanted to write to you several months ago. Let me tell you that I do not want anything except your prayers and thank you for listening to me. In a few days we will know the answers to our questions regarding our Grandson who has been in foster-care with us for two years. His case is in the “court system” at the appellate court level. However, my wife’s employer recently notified us that they would be closing the factory. She has worked there for twelve and a half years and at 57 years old she will have a hard time finding new employment. This would be bad enough but I was hurt on the job on March 11, 2004. After being seen by several doctors and two surgeries where they replaced my right shoulder, I have been released from my doctor. I have permanent restrictions of not lifting more than ten pounds. I worked as an Emergency Medical Technician for years and have helped many people who have had accidents. Now I’m the one that needs help. I have not worked for three years. I tell you this not for sympathy but to understand what I’m going through.

We want so much to provide a home for our Grandson, who we plan to adopt when the court makes their decision. There is still a chance that the court could take him away from us and place him back with his birth parents. They have had nothing to do with him for over a year and a half. No matter where we end up we will have a place for him. However, my Workman Compensation case keeps dragging on and the longer they take we get closer to losing our home. Social Security Disability has taken their time just to get to the hearing stage and my hearing will be on February 14, 2008, Valentines Day.

I remember last year the story about the dog that was taken away from the loving adopted family. I thought at the time, How could they do something like that? I know how people felt about this dog and I’m not thinking there is any similarity between the dog and our Grandson. We want what is best for him. We are not concerned about losing everything due to the job situations. We can make a home anywhere. I can understand how people In New Orleans felt after losing everything. But you and I know one can rebuild even a city.

Please keep us in your prayers and also pray that we truly don’t lose everything, our Grandson.

I am so sorry for all that you and your family have been going through. It sounds as if you have had a time of it no matter which direction you have turned. I just wanted to let you know that you, your wife and grandson are in my prayers. I pray that you will all be able to stay together and have a home to be a happy family in.

The good news is,"You can get used to anything."
The bad news is,"You can get used to anything."

RE: My story is more than my injury!
we adopted 3 just before my injury while they werent our grands they were very special and I know the fear of the courts taking them we had guardianship while their parents were supposed to be getting their act together....yeah right. If the parents have had no contact in a year relax the judge looks at that and normally will leave the child were he is at. If the child is old enough he might ask the child.......as far as adoption that is a expensive operation we payed over 6 thousand here in oklahoma with my husbands work paying 3000 of it, and the paternal grands payed half of what was left we were left with about 1500 mostly filing fees,if the child is in the foster care program they take care of alot of the fees.......you will go to the top of my prayer list as I have a weakness for children as many do on here.......valentines day is a day for love I do believe the love for your grandchild will overcome their not being around in court that day.........they may not even show up the parents for our children only showed up for the first hearing and never another one.......may the feathers of angels cover you and your grandson on the 14th........I will call a special prayer for you thru our church will you PM me your name.........dont post it on here......Jayne

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile
