New to group with a question
I would like to say Hi to everyone and I am one of the many dealing with WC and I have one question - at the end
![]() I am a teacher in VA and in the act of restraining a student from getting himself hurt I got hurt and that was the start of a very long year and a half of hearings and an appeal - I did win the first hearing and then found myself still in the heat of it and they appealed - well I have just won yet again and been told that I can move forward - they are not appealing again.... I have been out of work of over a year now and wait for surgery to my back (L4-S1 - disk replacement!!!) I see my leave was returned to me and my current leave is now listed as WC but no money - I am owned over 6 months of pay!!! How long does everyone think I need to wiat... I need the money and would love to at least get the finances back in order.... They have told my DR they want a exam before they will approve surgery - just as I have not been to him in so long - becuase of thier delays!!!! ha another delay!!!) Debbie - and still waiting!!! |

RE: New to group with a question
welcome to our forum.... we have another on here hurt while restraining a student....some have waited 2 weeks for a check to start some years....have you a lawyer?Did the judge give an order for them to pay TTD(total temp.disablity)so many questions....please check out the "off topic" section also its where we let our hair down and just enjoy each other, joke and ask for and give prayer requests......we also have a woodshed that Admin sends me to alot .........please know you are among friends who will become family and some of the smartest people in the U.S. on work comp issues....It may be a min or a day or so to get your answer (if there is one) so be patient and read on........welcome home
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....

RE: New to group with a question
Welcome teach, Read, Judges order in after 26 months. Bummer knees is the other one injured in a classroom. You will enjoy the forum very much. Everyone helps to answer questions and gets together in off topic. More than likely if you listen to Jayne you will end up in the woodshed but thats ok many of us have been there because she gets us going and we just can't stop ourselves. Welcome again.
GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY AND OUR PRESIDENT! |

RE: New to group with a question
backache,
thanks for the info - sounds like Bummer knees and I are on the same track... I am glad to be here - sometimes dealing with all this WC stuff gets lonely, I am a very active person and can do nothing until after surgery (you don't think they will catch me riding one of my horses do you --- NOPE )Bellyacresfarm |

RE: New to group with a question
belly, I know how you feel about not being able to do anything. I had a discectomy/laminectomy on L4-L5 back in June and I'm still not doing very well. I can't wait until the day I can ride horses again and do all of the other active things we love to do. I have heard about the disc replacement and I wish I could have tried that, but I am not eligible for it.
I hope you get some pay soon and when you have surgery, I hope it works out wonderfully! Good luck! |

RE: New to group with a question
Welcome bellyA,
Hey! Another horse person...i Love it! So sorry you are injured though. If you are like me....i far more want to be out in the barn pitchin manure, than to be in the shape i am, stuck in the house! Prayers for you too, Lilly

hay KsGirl
I had the diskectimy/laminectimy over 7 years ago and did great - big thing is I took over 6 months off riding and really took it easy... from month one to about three months out I was in pain but then it was like someone took a switch and turned it off... one thing that also helped is doing palaties (SP - exercise) it really helped more than I would have believed - stick in there and I hope you get better ![]() good luck Belly Acres Farm |

RE: New to group with a question
Lilly,
Yes we are a odd bunch - I see picking stalls and poop my therapy (the mind kind!!!) my real issue has been the babies!!! We usually breed one mare a year for a foal every spring and I have had to have my husband do alot of the baby training and he is not the best with babies This years baby presented two legs NO HEAD - we had to push her back in and pull her out - My husband could not push her in and I jumped in and got it but could not pull her out so he jumped back in and got that done - Our vet was 45 minutes away and told us we would have lost the foal if we did not act and if we had not been up (she was 20 days early!!! - stayed up becuase of a feeling!) we would have lost both mare and foal - she is my best and favorite mare!I have not ridden in over a year and a half and will take 6 months off after surgery - I do not want to have any issues with me riding, I would rather take 6 more months and ride for years ![]() You will understand why I have waited - my insurance would do the fusion surgery - but I have held out for disk replacement - I know to many horse people doing surgery after surgery with fusion.... go out and hug your horse - it helps me LOL Belly Acres Farm |

Welcome to the forum bellyacresfarm.
![]() I was one of the lucky ones, it was less than a month when I started receiving TTD (temporary total disability) checks. I'm not directly involved with the teaching profession but had a brother and a grandmother that were both teachers. Nothing changes when nothing changes |
