RE: settlement - question
For now they are saying I'm gonna be doing dispatch stuff where I was working but as a permanent job I'm not sure . The company I work for has 20,000 employees so there's a lot of different jobs. As far as voc. rehab - I'm not sure what else id want to do , maybe time will tell. The whole not driving a truck isn't official yet but I'm sure it will be as soon as they contact my company doctor in regards to the D.O.T. rules.

RE: settlement - question
So I finally got a chance to go speak with my lawyer about the whole settlement thing and I was rather surprised at the chance of me getting over a %50 rating. I thought it was meaning I was %50 disabled not a total of the % rating of all my injuries % ratings.

RE: settlement - question
sucks doesnt it?

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

Well if it goes as the lawyer think I will get over the %50 without much effort which is a good thing. Id trade it all if I could go back without injuries but at least Ive got the possability of a nice settlement .He also seems to think my company wants to keep me around doing something and even likes my worker comp lady . He says I seem to have gotten the better deal from them so far.

RE: settlement - question
muttley Wrote:Well I been getting the feeling by talking to alot of fellow workers who have called to check on my current condition that my truck driving days are over. I told my workmens comp lady I wanted to know a couple days ago and once again she tried to be sweet and walk around the question . Im guessing because of my brain injury she doesnt want to upset me.
Last night I dug throught pages of rules on the department of transpertation site and I am sure now Ill never drive again because of brain surgery per the rules I found.
My basic question is how will this affect my settlement being I have lost whats considered a skilled labor career?
Ive been told by the owner of the company no matter what I have a job .

Muttley,
I TOO was promised a job........then was required to take a physical test (while they were assuring me I could go back) and got a letter in the mail saying they could not "accomodate my special needs."
JUST DON"T COUNT ON THEM> I am speaking from my own experience.
