I think that your age is a factor in applying for SSDI. When I was injured I was age 63 and applied for regular SS and SSDI simultaneously. Was initially denied SSDI, but appealed and was approved. However, my SS case worker said that I could waive the SSDI benefit until age 65 at which time, there is no offset between WC and SSDI. I have just reached MMI and am waiting for my rating. I guess I will have to see how it goes. It took me about a year to get my SSDI approved.
