All lumbar injuries please help
I have 2 bulging lumbar discs and a pinched nerve at L5 S1. All the pain since the beginning of my injury has been lumbar to left hip down left leg. The day before Christmas I woke up and had a terrible pinch in the middle of my back. Every day it would move up my back until now it has settled in my neck to my left shoulder down my left arm. It feels like a pinched nerve and is absolutely driving me crazy. I can't stand the pain at night and haven't slept much in a week. Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so is it caused by the pinched lumbar nerve or could it be from the bulging discs? I have a Dr's appt. Friday. Thanks for any help in advance.

GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY AND OUR PRESIDENT!

RE: All lumbar injuries please help
Oh backache >>>I'm so sorry. I have a similar problem but the other direction. Have a pinched nerve (cervical) that causes horrible pain in my left shoulder and arm and sometimes runs down my leg into my ankle. Since I have 4 bulges in my back but no pinched nerves that have shown up I can only assume this is coming from my neck. That's just my experience. Prayers are going up for you.

Quite possibly could be the result of the way you are now walking or sleeping as a result of your initial injury. Very common for someone with back pain to compensate and cause other aches and pains. Talk to your doctor.

RE: All lumbar injuries please help
My initial injury was my hand, but after protecting it i got frozen shoulder on the same side ( dominant hand ). The pain is so bad this past week that it travels in my neck /shouler and down to my fingers. I wish they would of did a MRI which they refuse to do as they claim it will not show anything ( BS) but believe it has to do with disc in my neck.

Have your neck checked like others have stated. It can cause them symptoms that run from your neck down to your fingers if pinching a nerve.

carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD.
1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10%

RE: All lumbar injuries please help
You really need to get a full mri. I found out I have so many things going on when you think its one thing it is something else. all this time and I just found out a few months ago that I have pinched nerves on my left side 4mm and 5mm bulging disks and soforth. Here lately with the cold weather i have been in more pain then usual. If you have to I would suggest you go on to your private doctor because you don't want matters to get worse

good luck

RE: All lumbar injuries please help
rholmes is right about taking your films to a private doctor to be read.

I have 3 bulging disking in lumbar - 1 in thoracic and and 1 in neck - only good thing is at this point it's just slight - but the weather does affect it just like with everything else.

I also sleep with a pillow between the legs to help keep the spine aligned better. You can pick up a body pillow and this helps some. So not all the pressure in directly on the spine if your a side sleeper.

RE: All lumbar injuries please help
Thanks for all of your help, but I really don't know what to do. Since I haven't complained of neck arm pain before I'm afraid the IC will say this is something not related to my original injury. I didn't do anything that I know to cause the new pain since I am very careful with everything I do. They took my regular insurance from work from me after 12 weeks on WC and since I am only being paid in a month what I made at work in 2 weeks I can't afford to buy insurance. Then my WC insurance adjuster told me they will not honor my PCP orders because he took me out of work after the original PA for WC sent me back light duty after the WC Dr. called her and made her send me back to work.It has taken me awhile to find out what WC is like and I don't trust them when it comes to paying for tests.I'm pretty sure if I have an MRI they will make me pay for it. God bless all of you with cervical / arm pain it is terrible and I don't know how you can stand it . I have finally began to be accustomed to the lumbar pain and I can reposition myself at times to lower the pain but this new pain hurts like a toothache all through my neck and arm and doesn't lesson no matter what I do. Do you think the IC will pay for tests if I have them done? My original injury was back in June and this new pain started the day before Christmas and is getting worse every day. I will pray for all of you.

GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY AND OUR PRESIDENT!
