RE: returning to driving a big rig after brain injury
THere is no specific brain injury rule for a CDL; it depends on the examining physicians recommendations in conjunction with the FMCSA medical panel recommendations. Certain conditions are however disqualifying.

RE: returning to driving a big rig after brain injury
I was gonna say, also what if you have a seisure while driving? Is that at all possible that the doctor knows if you would or not? I am just concerned that is a possibility it could happen with a head injury. Do they have you on meds for that in case you should have one?

I wish you luck, and hope all checks out well so that you may return to the job you love. That is WONDERFUL if you can still preform your job. Good luck.

carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD.
1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10%

RE: returning to driving a big rig after brain injury
Ive never had a seizure however because of this brain injury I do have a chance for one the rest of my life from what I have been reading. Of course if you have a seizure you cant drive a truck until medically you can prove you not gonna have another. In my case I'm not sure where that stands and Ill know more after I speak to my Neurosurgeon in a couple weeks.

Sparkey - They had me as with every person who has a brain injury on a medication to prevent seizures however I have been on that stuff since leaving the hospital.
