Was I being fed a "feeler" for IC?

RE: Was I being fed a "feeler" for IC?
Hi Bad Boy...thanks for answering my question. That is a disgrace. No wonder I always get the feeling on here that IW's are leary of vocational rehab people. I'm glad mine was one visit. It was before you posted to not let them in your home or something like that. I was sort of stunned by that comment, now I understand why you said it. Thanks again.

Red, had you seen that reply I made on a Thread addressed to Wink, where I stated the WC Attorneys called me about the Computer Operated FCE's. Well, the first Attorney my friend, 20 - 25 years as a WC Attorney, was thinking of starting up a Voc rehab place, because of all the things we stated here. He wants to get good people to truely help the IW's find work, and perform the task with-out the lies that goes into this. I hope he does it.

Reply's are intended solely for informational purposes. They are based on personal opinions, experience, or research and are "not to be taken as fact or legal advice", otherwise, always consult an attorney or a doctor.

That sounds wonderful....I hope he is able to do it also. It is nice to know that some of what we do here...and this is what you do...might make a difference for other IW's. The other day...our lawyer called about the IME that my husband has to go to and asked him if he wanted to do a FCE. My first response out of my mouth...was he does but only if it is a computer generated one. See you have made a big impact..we are all learning just slowly...

RE: Was I being fed a "feeler" for IC?
Hi everyone,
Thanks for ALL or YOUR replies and hugs! I guess I need to get on the phone with the lawyer & see what he says....(if he already doesn't know) . Prncess...my VR person is the one assigned to me...so I assume she works for the IC...we all know quite well she isn't working for me as the IW! HA. I have heard that it is rare to leave the medical open...but hopefully they are stuck with my meds, as MD said I will need for a lifetime. I am only concerned , that down the road I will need a joint replacement YIKES....and that scares me for my future as i know it will be costly. Last I was seen my MD he said he knew of another very good MD who may be able to help me within the state....but a couple hrs away...that if I was interested, he would refer me to him....but my thoughts are now, are that I have resolved to the fact that I have an extremetie that just doesn't work. Maybe I'm accustomed to it since I've had 3 years practice with it non-working. I am also not really interested in any more surgeries, poking, or prodding. I do the Ultram, Lyrica, celebrex, soma, and vicodin when it's really bad, and it is tolerable. But now I am getting worried about possible RSD....as I have a large patch on my back & shoulder that I simply cannot tell if it's ice cold, or burning. There is also an area that is in constant muscle spasm between my shoulder & neck that has a crawling feeling inside when it doesn't feel like a bee sting. Extremity is also atrophied, &  mottled looking with a very touchy spot on the tip of my shoulder. I don't know what the first signs of RSD are...but this is scaring me death, as I know what a wicked disease that is. I know there are RSD people (poor souls) on this site...maybe you all could fill me in on how your's started or what your symptoms were. Nothing is EVER simple with me, whether it be a supposedly simple surgery, injury, of the flu.....it all goes full blown & normally serious or gets very complicated. Normally my "same day" simple surgeries end up as a 5 day stay! Hopefully, I'm just being parinoid about the RSD fears.
Thanks again everyone...you are all my saviors in one way or another!

Hi Lilly...I hope you are not having the signs of RSD. I don't have it but it does not sound like something anyone would want to have. There was a site that Spring gave to us a couple of days ago. I thought I had saved it but am unable to find it at this moment. It had a lot of good information in it. I am going to go back and see if I can find it and then send it to you.

Hi Lilly...I found the site..it is really a good site and easy to understand. It breaks it all down very well. http://www.rsdrx.com/rsdpuz4.0/001.htm

And as always, make sure that you talk to your doctors about your signs and fears as soon as possible. If caught in time, as I understand it, a lot more can be done to lessen the damage of RSD.

Lilly

first off your not old and a worn out - if you are then so am I. Like you I deal with other health issues as well and am currently awaiting my hearing on SSDI because of my other health issues including CFS among them. I so hate waking up in the morning and still being so tired and needing to go back to bed.

I figure someday they will figure out what all is going on with my body - Lupus or MS who knows for sure yet - all they know is it is Auto-immune at this time.

Have you had an MRI recently of the shoulder? Is your shoulder cold to the touch? Atrophy could be from a number of reason - including nerve damage, not using the shoulder because of the pain, or in your case - sounds like it's not working at all so muscle wasting could be a good possibility along with nerve damage since you can't tell if it's hot or cold. I also have the spasms in the back that go between the shoulder blades and sometimes work up to the neck - they did an mri of the thoracic spine and found that I also have a slight bulge in this area and that this disk is actually causing the problem along with the fact that I have chronic long thoracic nerve injury/bracial plexius injury (TOS). Unlike you, however, I have movement of both arms and good range of motion even though I will need the one shoulder replaced eventually because of a disease that is in the humeral head itself at this time.

I do agree that you need to talk to your doctor or neurologist about your symptoms at this time to see what is going on in that shoulder and don't let them write it off to other health issues - make sure that they check it out.
