panic attacks ?? anyone
does anyone else get these ?? I mean all it takes for me to panic and start crying is for someone at work or HQ to say something wrong ... and then I just start to continuneally think about it and I start to fee the attacks start ... ?
Example: another employee is also on w/c and I get to hear howGreat her weekly visits are or How much money she got while on ttp.
I just start to feel like I'm thebad guy and Am the one being watched to fail ... while She does anything she wants even going against restrictions ..
Yes Ive gotten help and meds but cant seem to get over the attcks still ..

Tweety,   what are your symptoms ,  other than crying?   Yours sound more like depression, or anxiety attacks.

Meds can also cause this kind of reaction, what are you taking?

RE: panic  attacks ?? anyone
Hi tweety00 I am sorry to hear that you are suffering with panic attacks. The difference as I understand it between an anxiety attack and a panic attack is that during a panic attack your breathing is effected. Do you find it hard to catch your breath when these attacks start? Sometimes you can have an anxiety attack one minute and then the next a panic attack with the same triggers. I use to suffer from panic attacks and they are really terrible. It feels like the world is spinning out of control and you can't catch your breath and sometimes people pass out. I never did pass out, I just got really excited. My thoughts would just spin out of control and my ability to focus changed completely. When I have an anxiety attack I can control it better by leaving the area where I am and going to a quiet area where I attempt to stop thinking. It is the thinking that leads you into this situation. When a person's ability to cope is challenged over and over, then add pain to it, and the fear of the unknown which I think all IW are experiencing to some degree, it is not unsual for you to experience this. With treatment, it took about 8 months for me to stop having them. I also would take ativan occasionally. I was really careful with the ativan and would only take it when I had a panic attack. I wish you the best with this. It is so very painful and unreal at the time you experience it. Let me know if I can help anymore with this or if you want to talk privately you can pm me.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.

RE: panic  attacks ?? anyone
Hi Tweety, I am sure sorry to hear that you are having these attacks. I have some kind of attack at times cause the heart goes to beating real fast, temperature rises and the sweat just rolls and I have to stop and focus on slowing down my heart rate and calming myself down. Once I'm calm again the other symptoms just kind of go away.

RE: panic  attacks ?? anyone
Tweety...Had a friend that dealt with panic attacks. Heart racing, breathing really fast...thought she was always having a heart attack. Dr. did put on medication. But she was finally able to see the triggers and would leave the situation. Alot of times she would call me if we were at work...and I could just talk with her. You may need to talk with your Dr. I can remember how scared my friend would get from them. You sure don't need to live with those. I wish you the best.

I agree with you especially Deb and spring: I first noticed this when I bought my home, I too though I was having a heart attack and went to the ER. After awhile my PCP DX me with panic attacks! Wheee, I felt better, here I thought it was the heart when it was only the mind, but I then though if my mind can cause me this type of pain then it is a real and powerful disease. Thanksfully it is under control except when the IC cuts off my meds or attempts to make life miserable pertaining to doctor's appointments and necessary tests then I can feel the PA symptoms re-appearing.
Good luck!

RE: panic attacks ?? anyone
Hi Tweety, I hope you are feeling a bit better. I have dealt with panic and anxiety attacks in the past, and even to this day they sometimes try to raise their ugly head at me. I learned to notice the things that would trigger my attacks and tried my best to stay away from them. When I couldn't, I just tried to take my mind away from the situation and think of something else to calm myself down. Sometimes I would walk away and just breathe, but when I couldn't I just started fighting back in my mind, not letting the attack come, and that helped a lot. Don't let these people get to you. The most important thing is to worry about yourself not those people, do your job, and get the heck out of there. Don't allow them to get that far into your head that the attacks occur, they're not worth it!! Protect yourself and your mind, these people are just a very very small part of your life, and they don't deserve that much attention from you. Best of Luck!!Wink

RE: panic  attacks ?? anyone
hi tweety.......i have had PTSD for a long time so am quite familiar with anxiety/panic attacks. about 9 months ago, shortly after being injured the crying started. sometimes there was a reason and sometimes not. the CVS guy could bring the tears on if he just looked at me. i couldn't drive as i would start crying behind the wheel and forget how to drive or where i was going. i agree with limbo that as soon as i put my recovery first and stopped worrying constantly about what the were doing or not doing to me i became much stronger in taking control of my own life. i also agree with tuffy as it sounds like depression and anxiety. i have taken klonopin for years as i can't take any AD's. please don't mix the clonazapen with xanax. they are both benzo's and can hurt more than help if mixed. the cymbalta and one of the benzo's is fine. how long have you been taking cymbalta??? i ask this as some people suffer more anxiety when they first start this type of drug. it takes awhile for it to subside. is your dr. aware of the crying? i also found counseing to help the best for me.
