RE: Fallen at work
You asked for Advice, which I don't do. So I gave you the best options to best help your friend. It's better for your friend, and you as a friend.

I like to see new members not lose them. If your friend can use your computer and talk direct, I think that would be best for you also.

Make sure she calls your State WC Board and obtain her claim number. If anything else, seek out a good 10 to 20 year Work Comp Attorney. They are free to talk to, so your friend can pick the one they want.

Reply's are intended solely for informational purposes. They are based on personal opinions, experience, or research and are "not to be taken as fact or legal advice", otherwise, always consult an attorney or a doctor.

RE: Fallen at work
California has a 3 day waiting period for TD. The first 3 days are not paid until she's been disabled for 21 days or hospitalized  - then they will go back and pay them.
She should have filed a claim form and gotten an acknowledgement from the employer.
You can print it out or have her fill it in online here:
http://www.dir.ca.gov/dwc/DWCForm1.pdf

The carrier/employer has 90 days from the date the claim form is filed to investigate the claim and make a decision.
Until they have denied the claim they will pay for $10,000 worth of treatment.
If/when the claim has been denied she can appeal and request an expedited hearing.

There are 3 good sources of information on california's workers' comp rules
The guidebook

Factsheets

RE: Fallen at work
Babebahn, unfortunately the company she works for does not pay for sick days. so all the days she missed because of her injury she has now found out that she will not get any money for them at all. even when the doctor took her off work for the day she is not being paid at all. She is getting very frustrated with this whole mess.
