RE: SPRING and others with a SCS.
This has been very interesting to read...thanks for bumping it up. I am going in for my stimulator test, next week. It is works, I will have my inplant put in as a on day procedure and my Pain Specialist said he would be their but the bulk of the surgery would be done by my surgeon. I hadn't thought about the after mass, so thank you all for your input.
Have a good day! |

RE: SPRING and others with a SCS.
Just to clarify about the programing. It does stimulate the left leg, but only when I am laying down. I need it adjusted so it will do the left leg while I sit and walk.
Vickinat, while I was at the hospital, they broughgt me to two times while in the ER and asked me some questions and then put me back to sleep. I don't even remember the questions. While in the recovery room they programmed the scs while I was laying down. So now I just need them to adjust it. 8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. RE: SPRING and others with a SCS.
Hi AQA....Good to hear from you. I will suggest that when you have the rep do the programming make sure you are standing then sitting. You get the idea. It may also need time to get scarred into place...atleast that is what they kept telling me. But mine still isn't working right. Yeah...speaking of that, I think the IC may finally do something about getting mine out and replaced. Sure hope you get rid of the aweful pain of feeling a stitch is getting ripped out. Boy..what we go through to find some relief from pain. But hey..you got that nice girdle to help out the waist line...lol Please keep in touch.

RE: SPRING and others with a SCS.
Well I just got back from the doctors office. The rep. was there and reprogrammed me. The bandages remain, but thats ok. I can change them myself now. In a few days I will not need them any more.
Spring, While I was there I aske the Dr. why I had a bandage in the middle of my back. He told me " that is where I stiched the leads to the muscels, so they will not move. " If I recall correctly yours is in the cervicle area. Maybe they can do the same for you. And then he gave me a lecture because I did not have that darn girdle on. I almost told him I mailed it to Monster. 8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. RE: SPRING and others with a SCS.
I have a question as this confuses me. They implant a device under the skin for pain? Is this suppose to take the place of pain meds? I was curious where they insert this thing, how big it is, and how you turn it on. Is there a website to see how this procedure is done? I just cannot imagine them putting something into my thigh or back or wherever they put this thing. Although i have enough meat to hide this thing in my thigh area..lol. My problem is my hand/arm. Where would they insert this thing for that?

RE: SPRING and others with a SCS.
Sparkey, http://www.mayfieldclinic.com/PE-STIM.htm
that is a site that may answere some of your questions. The SCS is not a fix all cure. I still will be taking the pain meds. and sleeping pills. The benifit I have gained from the use of the SCS is that I can sit, stand, and walk more than I could before. I do find it some what interesting, that out of all the people that are on this forum, there are just a few that have a SCS or have had thier doctor speak with them about one. 8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI.
