RE: what to expect???
Jaynes point was well made. You are getting something. the rest of the group that got layed off are getting nothing. Don't get me wrong. I do understand what you are going throug. Just as others here do.
There has to be a reason that you can not sit and stand for long periods as well as the weight restriction. There are a great number of us with the same restrictions. Unemployment is a possibily but you have to be able to work. Hence, if the Dr. has not released you to go back to work, you may have a problem. 8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins. Soilders died for our freedom. |

RE: what to expect???
Did they ever mention bringing you back to your co. on light duty? You would have restrictions your doctor gives you such as the lifting and working so many hours per day. If you can handle the hours, they eventually bring you to more after so many weeks. Your co. has to offer you a light duty job if they have anything. If not, then you could look for another job elsewhere in your limitations.
I was put at light duty with my company after being out of work 9 months. It was a 1 1/2 hour drive as opposed to the 1 hour drive i had before. It was to much for me to drive one handed so i gave my notice because i was offered another job with higher pay in my limits. My rating doctor told me it would NOT effect my rating going back to work somewhere else. I could no longer do my career anymore and had no choice but to change it. Luckily this new job paid alot more. You have to be put at MMI which means they can no longer do anything else for you. I was put Permanent, which my case worker said the doctor rarely puts people at. I will be going for my rating in a few more weeks and will know more after it. I myself have no idea what kind of rating they will give me for my hand/arm. It is my dominant hand and i was told and read it is automatically 20% rating. We will see. I will let you know after my appt. I was injured in Jan of this year and already getting a rating. So yes, depending on your case you can settle sooner than some people have on here. It all depends on different situations. Some are injured alot worse than i am also. Each case is different of course. carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD. 1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10% |

RE: what to expect???
you may feel you can do something...but to do so would strain something else...our bodies are so conected....everything that happens effects something else......many on here start with one injury and it leads to others because of altered gait....
you are on pain pills....if they found work and because of pain pills your judgement was off and you hurt someone else the quilt would eat you alive..... I dont drive much any more.....down country roads is about all because I DONT BELIEVE I am a safe driver....I cant move my neck or back right....and migrains hit with the force of a mac truck with no warning....the doc didnt take my licence he says I could drive if I feel safe....I dont ,I wont put my children or anyone else in that danger in a city or hiway setting...I wont drive anywhere I will be driving longer that 5 min at 25 miles per hour....Thank God my husband agrees and drives me everywhere or friends from church will pick me up....many things will change for you as you walk the walk of an injured worker....if you trust your lawyer then listen to him/her and let them do their job and you do yours (get well)everything else will take care of its self......apply for help thru churches and the goverment.....just get well ;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....
