More Simple Questions
Could someone please provide a list of the abreviations that are used here?

FCE & MMI are two and I know there are more

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
do I have to ask my supervisor eveytime I want to see my doc? as of now I have no follow up appointment but I need to go back, I guess they just assumed I would be all better in 2 weeks but I'm not. Can I just go or do I need permission first?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Must teh Doctor be a REAL Doctor or Can a PA ( physicians's Assistant ) or a Nurse Practinioer ( RNPAC) also provide treatment and give no work orders?............I mean I know they can but is it exceptable to WC?

I live in Michigan, I have not yet found these answers on the state specific prtion of the site.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At what point should one consult an attorney? I have not had any trouble yet, however I've only been in the system 10 days. I can not afford an attorney just to ask questions like these.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

has anyone ever heard of WC supplimenting ones private insurance? I ask because if I want a test but WC denies it I wonder will they agree if I only ask them to pay the copay portion of my private insurance? ( just thining ahead)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've used my private insurance for my pain meds, my co pay was only like 5 bucks, should I turn thos reciepts in or just not worry about it? I don't want WC to think I'm trying to milk the cow but I also don't want to break rules and ruin my case or should I obtain my WC case number and let the drug store bill WC directly for the medication?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Should I keep track of Milage to and from Docs office and to and from Drug store? again just wanteing to follow rules and not mess up my case, but alsoe don't want WC to think I'm trying to get every penny
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HOw long does it normally take to begin receiving loss of income payments? They're gonna be quite small but with out them I can't pay bills, buy food or buy gas to get to Dr.
thanks, sorry for so many questions but I'm still learning
I appreciate everyones time and advice, your a good bunch and very helpful.
RE: More Simple Questions
1) FCE = FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY EXAM
MMI = MAXIMUM MEDICAL IMPROVEMENT
2) I have never asked my employer if I could see the Dr.. You employer is not a DR.. What would you do if they said no??? I think you would still seek treatment.
3) I would feel more confortable if a (REAL DOCTOR) wrote everything. But yes a PA. can. But be careful and make sure the DR. is going to back it up. At present, my pm Dr. has his PA write my scripts and reports, but it is his signature ( either hand written or stamped ) on the bottum line.
4) You can consult with an attorney at any time. Most attornies will provide you with a free consultation. That is so they can evaluate your claim and you can evaluate them.
5) WC and private insurance. NO. Private insurance would not want to pay for what the wc insurance should. and vice versa.
6) Yes, Keep the receipts and make copies. Send the copies to the ic. I have used my personal insurance to get my meds. before. When I did that, I always called my personal insurance and the wc insurance. They would then handle it and I got my co-pay back.
7) I don't know. I am unfamilure with your state laws on milage. Howevere you may want to keep track of it just in case you can be repayed.
8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins. Soilders died for our freedom.
RE: More Simple Questions
IW= injured worker
IA= insurance adjuster
IC= insurance company
NCM= nurse case manager
PA= physicians assistant
PT= physical therapy
IME= independant medical exam
FCE= functional capacity exam= the dr sends you to a pt to do this exam to see what your limitaions are.
MMI= maximum medical improvement= the dr doesn't think they can do anything to make you better than what you are.
I can't think of any others right now.
I don't know about your state, but my state pays mileage for anything over five miles round trip. Trust me it adds up very fast and if wc is supposed to cover it, make them.
You can not use private insurance and wc together, however, my insurance will cover my meds and wc is supposed to repay my copay. I'm not sure how you go about just having wc pay for the meds, but I am sure someone here can tell you.
My checks started coming after I had been out of work for three weeks. In Kansas they don't pay for the first week unless you are out for two weeks.
I hope this gave you some help.
The Department of Management and Budget has increased the travel reimbursement rate to $.485 per mile effective January 1, 2007. All other rates remain the same.
