Quick Question

RE: Quick Question
HI Timothy, thanks for you input, I do trust my Doc, I've been with her for 19 years. The beautiy about my doc is she always asks me what I think. She listens.

I'm new to this so I do not know what i/c means.

Also I do not understand about the settlement part, wouldn't comp have to pay me for time unable to work UNTIL I take a new job? example, I am off work 2 weeks, will probably go longer or will return with lmitations, wont comp have to pay me for those two weeks off regardless as long as I do not quit the job where I was injured?

I'm confused about that statement, would you please elaborate for me.

Again thanks for your input. ( no i'm not telling anyone about the job until the offer is made. )

RE: Quick Question
i/c=insurance company.

Each state is different. In PA it is possible to settle future entitlement to wage loss benefits while leaving medical open. In other words, the i/c pays a lump sum to eliminate any potential future liability for wage loss. If your state allows for such an option, you may be able to obtain a lump sum settlement for future wage loss while leaving medical open and starting this new job.

RE: Quick Question
From what you've wrote, it sounds to me like you've already made up your mind. I agree with Timothy though, talk it over with your doctor for the medical implications before you jump. Hopefully you just have a strain. I had a lower back strain once about 10 years ago, and it took several weeks for it to fully go away, and it has never come back. My fault for lifting something too heavy (not work related).

Good luck to you.

RE: Quick Question
Chris & Timothy, thanks both of you, I appreciate the education.

Yes I've already made up mind, I actually applied today.

once I realized that comp doesn't own me and can not go after me for more then they paid out . That was only worry. never having a comp issue before I am sort of ignorant to the ways. I only know the horror stories I hear from others, I'm too dang stubborn to be owned by someone so I needed to make sure I wasn't going to screw my self royally prior to making the decsion I made.

I've read that a back strain can take 6 to 8 weeks to fully heal, if my problems worsen or last longer than that time frame I will seek further diagnostics.

You've all been very kind and informative. I thank you for that. And I will head my docs advice, nice thing is, she isn't owned by comp either and I trust her word so she wont steer me wrong just to get me back to work.

RE: Quick Question
What Chris & Timothy both have said I absolutely agree with. Since you respect your physician then that is who you should listen to to guide you. I hope you will continue to get the best treatment for your back.
Good luck with the new job!
