Attending physician report

I got a copy of the attending physician's report late last week. I do not like what I saw. There was information left out, some information was twisted and some information was flat out lies. I suppose this is what I am in for. My lawyer says to just sit back and collect the W/C checks,but that does not keep me from worrying about what will happen next. I guess I am not accustomed to getting paid for doing nothing.

Hi Collateral! It's tough to Hang in there at Times, but Your attorney is Correct, this System does take a bit of Patience! as far as the Copy of the Report You Received, take a Separate Piece of Paper, go line for line of the Report, and Write down the Discrepancies and mis truths Line by Line, while it is still fresh in Your Mind. Keep a Copy for Yourself attached to the Report, and send a Copy to Your Attorney for their Files. When Injured, it's sometimes hard to rely on Memory for these things, and You should Document them now. If You ever have a Problem because of the Report, You will Have all the info. You Need to Fight it. Hang in there, and Have a Great Day!!

Thank you both for your advice. It took a month and a half to get a preliminary hearing and another three or four weeks to get the first W/C check. My lawyer told me I was very fortunate to get in as soon as I did, so I guess I should be counting my blessings.

You can put the correct information in a letter an leave it with the doctor after the next visit.
Ask them to include it in their next report.
you should also give a copy to your atty.

You are not getting paid for doing nothing! You are getting paid because you were injured and your body needs time to heal. I felt like you did at first about being paid, but I realized that hurting and being in pain are a lot harder than working and I certainly didn't get hurt on purpose. I wish you the absolute best!

I have that same thing happening all the time. I do as the others have said. I make a list of the discrepancies, make a copy for my lawyer and the Dr. involved. I take a copy to my next appointment and point out the mistakes. In the event that I'm not going to have another appointment with the Dr. who issued the inaccurate report, I call and explain the situation and ask for it to be ammended, and that the ammendment be sent to the people that the original inaccurate one was sent to.

I have had this ussually explained that some one else took the notes, such as the nurse and the doctor misinterpreted the meaning, or that the dictation wasn't done correctly. I have had MRI reports that were read wrong, only to find this out by other doctors looking at the films months later, and seeing obvious problems. Most recently 2 specialist and an ER doc, made mistakes on reports, even one had my age wrong.
Again the excuse was that they were dictated and must have been transcribed wrong or something.

Doctor's seem to not read the reports after they dictate them, and everything gets a rubber stamp signature. I feel that even a little mistake on a medical report can cause big problems when you have to deal with the W/C.
