Hi Nanny,

Sorry about your run in with that mean spirited woman, but like others have said I would say seek legal help fast. Since you have done all of the right things and reported your injury, and even if you hadn't done everything right it gives her no right to belittle you and talk to you like a child. I would look for her supervisor and let them know how people are being treated. In the meantime get you an attorney.

Welcome to the Boards Nanny! I have been in Management Myself, and the only thing I could suggest is to file Your Grievance, and follow it through until something is Done! When I was in College, I had a University Bursar that spoke to me that way when I was an Adult Student, and I went straight to the Deans Office, and did not stop bothering People until She was reprimanded and I received a Full Apology!! Stay on top of this, People should have a bit more Respect, and if She doesn't have any, maybe She is in the wrong Position, and should be Transfered into an area where She doesn't speak with People!! Good Luck. and Keep up the Fight!!Wink

RE: I've been browbeaten by a WC nurse
Like my colleague I must apologize for my sister in nursing. Many nurses forget that they are advocates for the care and recovery of the sick and maintenance of the healthy. In our work as advocates for the patient, nurses ensure that the patient receives appropriate and professional care.

That said, there are many things you can do to advocate for yourself. And in the world of Workers' Comp that is what you must do.

Are you a member of a Labor Union? If so bring them in on this situation and grieve the behavior of that nurse.

Read everything you can on your states workers' comp laws. I am in Illinois and every state is different. Even though you should lawyer up you need to know the laws too. Even lawyers can slip. Remember, they have numerous cases and you only have one. Know every detail of yours. Look up the requirments for notification-in Illinois the fact that you were seen in your hospital and have all that internal paperwork and medical records would count as notification.

Remember to stand for yourself.
