RE: Introductions...Everyone?
Hi all! I am 39 years young. I've been married to my wonderful husband for 20 years, but we've been together for 24 years. We have a 20 year old son who is in his 2nd year of college. I'm a Dental Assistant, who ended up with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in both hands (mild CTS in the Lt. hand and severe CTS plus trigger finger in my Rt. hand which was unfortunely also my dominant hand) I had carpal tunnel and trigger finger release surgery on my Rt. hand in 3/06 and things went down hill after that! A few months after the surgery I started having severe burning pain and my hand was swollen twice it's normal size and turned bright red in color. In 10/06 I was diagnosed with R.S.D. and have been fighting Work Comp ever since (I.M.E. says it's recurrent CTS). My 3 doctors say R.S.D.

Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you have been up to!

Pooh Wrote:Well lets see - turning 40 was the worst thing to happen to me .......... actually just before hand        lol

Injured first time 6/19/2002, last injury 6/22/2004 - we won't count the injuries in between - but lets say it was a few.  First injury treated for 18 months before comp denied the claim - talk about timely investigation ........ lol  Last claim the courts didn't allow the shoulders on but did approve the back and the IC had me rated at 2% and the courts ended up ordering them to pay me 20% industrial impairment rating.  Got my decission in Feb 2007.

Currently seeking treatment on my own for shoulders - go back in a couple of weeks to schedule surgery on my right shoulder.

Other than that, I met driller on this forum about 4 yrs ago and we have been married 3 yrs.  I have not worked for the past 2 yrs, but in the past 3 yrs we also have found out lots of things wrong with me.

Keep telling driller he got the wrong end of the deal here.  I suffer from peripherial neuropathy, hypothyroidism, severe migraines, avascular necrosis in right shoulder, osteoarthritis in both shoulders (thanks to the injuries), also have slightly bulging disks at c6-c7, t7, l3-l4, l4-l5, l5-S1, IBS (which was and is aggrevatated by NSAIDS),  possible rheumatoid arthritis.  So that is what we have found out in the past 3 yrs - see why I want to go back before I turned 40.  The only good thing that happed after I turned 40 was the high blood pressure I had after the injury all of the sudden went away.  Big Grin  So no more of those meds !!!!!

So that's me in a nutshell so far - still going through testing - since my doctors love me so much and love sending me to visit dracula.

Pooh, 40 was the worse thing to happen to you...wait till you hit 50! It a piece of cake! No problem!

RE: Introductions...Everyone?
Once again, the last one to post Smile

I was injured at the end of July 2003 (just before my 40th birthday) when my dominant hand / wrist was trapped between 200 gallons of water (in containers) and the roll down door of a uhaul trailer. This happened early in my shift and no one was around to help me. I worked the rest of my shift (couldn't contact owner as he was running errands). When he arrived at 1 to take his shift, I explained what happened. He never filled out a 1st report of injury, and there were no posters up that explained my rights as an IW.

I finally contacted the labor board and they told me what I was to do. One week after the injury (on my birthday) I was finally seen by a DR at an emergency clinic. He told me that it was just a sprain. Employer refused to give any information regarding his WC insurance carrier, but the labor board found it after about a month. My claim was never denied.

After seeing another Dr who spent all of 5 minutes with me, looked at a month old x-ray and never examined me, I executed my right to find my own Dr. And I am glad that I did. He was the best thing that ever happened to me. By November, I was undergoing surgery for De'Quarevains stenosing tenosynovitis and removal of a bone spur. Within a month, I was in PT. However, scar tissue developed and I had to undergo a 2nd surgery in April of the next year. I then started PT a week later. I was released as MMI in June of 04, had my IME in August (a rating of 13% disability in hand) and received my settlement check in September. (I had hired an attorney back in Oct of 03). I am still facing one more surgury, which will basically fuse my right thumb into place and make it almost impossible to do anything with the hand, but I am trying to put that off just as long as I can.

I then fought to get voc rehab. Although I was back to work when the hearing came up, I still received $3000 for rehab. In 05 I started having more medical issues and was eventually fired from my new job.

I am now suffering from diabetes, three bulging (possibly herniated) discs in my c-spine (which can be traced back to my earlier WC injury, but am using private insurance to deal with), and just found out that I am at the early stages of kidney failure. Had a bad reaction to the medication they had me on for the kidney disease, and ended up in the ER. My PCP hasn't called me in over 10 days to tell me what to do or schedule an appointment, so called up this morning and fired him. Will be going this afternoon to get my med records and find a Dr that is willing to at least have his nurse call me in a situation like this.

I've always been crazy, but it keeps me from going insane.
