RE: what do you want from this board? (very on topic)
admin Wrote:What are you talking about? What did I say that you could have possibly interpreted in such a hostile manner? Yes, this forum is for injured workers. Its for helping injured workers dealing with a complex and confusing system. But we don't have a "means test" to get in. We don't require anyone to be a certain race, age or economic status. And we don't require an injury. Would this be a better place without 1171? Billybubba? Or other "non-injureds"?

It will be a bland world once you are all identical. If you are looking for a place that can provide support, information and understanding, from a group of people with a wide variety of knowledge and experiences, you've found it here.

If you want nothing but to bitch and moan with people who think in lockstep with you, go someplace else.

Whoa!  I knew ahead of time that some may take my post as hostile--which is why I began my post with, "I respectfully disagree" to begin with.  Did you see that?  And I never said that this place would be a better place without 1171 or Billy Bubba...(or you or any professional for that matter).  Where did I say that?  I only compared and placed all on equal standing---and that this is the Injured Workers' Forum and that the kings and professionals should understand that--like in understanding our emotions and why we share the things we do.

AS for your comment about bitching and moaning and the lockstep thingy----I wasn't bitchin' and moaning.  I was stating an opinion just like you do, and relating that the Injured had the same rights as anyone--not that everyone should think like me only.  Gee!

I would like to refer you to post#20 for a little more understanding of my thoughts.

Wink

admin Wrote:Limbo,
You are correct. I should not have posted in anger. Some of you know we have been dealing with server issues this week, which has meant long, long days and short, short nights for the entire week.

Wink made some statements that just flat out hit me wrong, because I think they are wrong. First, when someone takes my "handle", which was created purely in fun, and beats me over the head with it like I assumed the royal jewels, it offends me. Second, lets look at his statement:

"But the Injured Worker is the Injured Worker.  Sure, we are not kings or professionals--but we are a family of sublime human beings---with a kaleidoscope of genuine emotions, thoughts, illustrations, questions and answers to share.  We share like no other."

The definition of sublime is: supreme or outstanding

So his comment actually says:
"But the Injured Worker is the Injured Worker.  Sure, we are not kings or professionals--but we are a family of (supreme or outstanding) human beings---with a kaleidoscope of genuine emotions, thoughts, illustrations, questions and answers to share.  We share like no other."

But, we are to assume, "kings and professionals", are not sublime.

He clearly separates into classes here - professionals, "admins", or any other non-injured worker, in his mind, has no place here, and I take great offense to that. This board works because all have been welcome here. It is the mix that wink himself referred to. When we start segregating, we will lose an important part of the mix.

Whoa, again!  If you'll take careful note, I exalted you here when I stated: "Sure, we are not kings or professionals--but we are a family of sublime human beings---with a kaleidoscope of genuine emotions, thoughts, illustrations, questions and answers to share.  We share like no other." (The key of exaltation is 'Sure we are not kings and professionals').  I placed you up there, even if it was in quotes.  But I also placed the Injured Workers on the same level, although, I surely did not mean that we were "Superior" but I did mean outstanding!  My boss once rated me on Job Performance stating that my duties were sublime.  I'm sure he didn't mean that I was superior over him.  The definition of sublime has several meanings for some, and see now that I must choose my words more carefully.

I'll agree to disagree, but if it is your wish, then I promise I will quietly go away.  Just let me know, if you will.

Wink

RE: what do you want from this board? (very on topic)
It's been a rough week for all of us. It's time for a (((((((great big group hug)))))))!!!!!!
What makes this forum such an awesome place to come is our diversity. Some of us are the researchers, some are the soothers, some are the ass kickers, etc.... And EVERYONE OF US are needed on here to make this forum what it is.

We come here looking for answers, support, relief, a smile, a hug, a kick in the ass, a shoulder to cry on, comparisons, understanding of what we're going through, and friendship. There are many more reasons why we come here.

WE are the forum!!!!! Without US, it would not be what it is. Like the house of cards...if one is removed, the house becomes weaker. It seems like when the water gets a little rocky people make the comment about going away...sometimes we aren't going to agree.. that's part of the beauty here....that we can express our differences and accept that we are entitled to our own opinions.

P.S. Bad Boy, I kinda chewed you out when I compared you to a thorn... but through the thorns, you are a rose.

Always love your cubs unconditionally...they are a gift from God and someday they'll pick your nursing home!!

I'm sorry your feelings were hurt...but as everyone has stated, you have to ignore things people say at times...I was born & raised in San Francisco, a city where you have no choice but to accept anyone & everyone...I didn't know any different...until I moved out into the suburbs...people will always have their opinions & comments...my comment usually is...If you don't like what they have to say, challenge it or ignore it.

Well put SnowBear - there is nothing I can think of to add. That is the exact reason I love this board so much and continue to come back 3 - 4 times per day.
