New Jersey doesn't reimburse mileage on an on-going basis, like many of the States do. You have to keep track of your mileage and you can ask for reimbursement as part of your settlement and I believe there is a cap on the amount. I read it was $750 but I could be wrong. If you consult a lawyer, he/she will have the correct information about mileage at settlement time.

For some reason, the New Jersey worker's comp site advises injured workers to obtain the services of a lawyer. I never saw this before. Tongue Even if you hire a lawyer, educate yourself on the laws of your State.

Take care and I hope you are feeling a little better today! Smile

..you need a lawyer and you need one now...if you are having this much trouble now its only gonna get worse.......and settlement is most likley 2-3 yrs down the road you have to get well or as well as modern medison can make you..before any talk of settlement...for this you are gonna need a lawyer to get you decent medical care and RX care......down the line a settlement isnt gonna be much just a stipend to make you go away(so thinks the IC)sometimes if its just a pulled muscle...a bit of rest and ice and in a couple of days/weeks you are back to 100% and there will be no settlement...settlement happens only if you are permantly disabled a %...talk of settlement is way way way premature.....

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

Here is a listing by county of your state bar lawyers assn referral service. Call to obtain a list of names of WC lawyers in your county. A consultation with a lawyer is free. You can explain your case and they give you advice. Just tell them what happened to you at work, what medical you have obtained, and that you have not been diagnosed yet. A diagnosis takes time, especially if tests are needed such as MRI's, EMG's, etc. A settlement, if any, is based on many factors, at the end of your case. A lawyer will be able to help you obtain the medical you need, and answer your questions. Good luck! Tongue

Mel...please try to be calm. Settlement isn't even in the future at this point. You need to find out what's wrong, get the proper treatment, hire an attorney, and get the pain under control. The IC hasn't picked your claim up yet. You are getting way ahead of yourself. Do yourself a favor and take one thing at a time. Make you're health the first. Any sort of settlement is a long way off and not always the best thing for us if it means we need medical care and can not get it. No one can predict what injury will give a settlement, when and how much.

Mel:
I adviced you awhile back that YES YOU NEED A LAWYER!!! Why are you so reluctant to contact one?? You need professional legal assistance at this time, before you fool around and make matters worse for yourself. It does'nt cost anything for a consult, as you have been told. You are working yourself up about a settlement and there may never be one. I have had Carpal tunnel Syndrome in my hands, years apart, I had surgery and therapy and returned to work each time, no settlement was necessary. You don't know yet if it's CPS or something else.

I also suggested you get a brace to wear, specially when sleeping, these can be bought at any local drugstore and Walmart, until your doctor decides to order one custom for you.(if you need it). It may help you not have as much pain and get some rest. I know others here have also recommended this.

I don't mean to come off as being rough on you or anything, I know what it's like to be hurting and needing help to cope with it. You need to follow the advice that you are given.

The form you received for the medical authorization, is this company the name of your W/C insurance company? The reason I'm asking is that ussually the adjuster would have had you sign the authorization for medical reports, immediatly, prior to treatments, but I could be wrong for your state. Either way please talk to a lawyer as soon as possible.

I hope you feel better soon.
Vickie
