RE: Update, since Dr. appointment
Vickie, I will try again to get my point across, maybe if I use my situation it may be more clear. The Dr, I chose for My Surgery was treating me with PT and Aftercare when my Pain Levels went through the Roof!! I went back, fought for another MRI, got it, they found Scar Tissue and a fluid build-up in the incision site between the Muscles. I had the fluid removed, and the Dr. THREW a script for ESI Shots at me and basically told me there was nothing He could Do!!!!
KICK!!!!! There He went to the Curb!!! During Your Entire situation, Your PCP By Law is given any and all Progress Reports on You, they are all there, all You have to Do, which is Your Right, is make an appt. with Them and explain the Poor Care You are receiving, (Which by the Way is VERY POOR at this Point!!), and ask Them to become Your Treating Dr. from this Point on. At that Point, Legally, You can be referred to a Neuro. Specialist, (Which in My Humble Opinion is what you need over the Ortho.), and can also schedule another FCE with the Center of Their Choosing. When my Pain became severe, My PT Therapist Stopped my PT, which is also Legal, and sent me Back to the Surgeon that performed My Surgery, the one I ended up Booting!! You have followed all the Steps You need to with the Exception of speaking to Your Therapist at PT and explaining Your situation, and Talking with Your PCP! Get away from that Dr. and His treatment Plan, before what I Fear comes True, Permanent Damage!! Believe Me I know Permanent Damage, I'm 45 and My Power Wheelchair will be here Today or Tomorrow!! Had I continued with the Plan My Surgeon had me on, I would surely be Paralyzed from the waist down Today! Please be careful, I'm not trying to push You in a direction You don't want to go, I just have been there, and in My Honest Opinion, this is the Best Route for You!! Best of Luck, and I Hope things Get Better!!

Limbo
Thank you again for your advise, I am changing doctors. I will get the referral if necesary for the neuro. My PCP thru my regular insurance has told me that he rarely gets anything from the WC people, except for lab work , but no updates. I have spoken with my Physical therapist, they agree with needing more test and suggested the neuro, and thats where I chose to have my FCE done. They also agree with changing doctors as I am doing. Thanks Vickie |

RE: Update, since Dr. appointment
Ok Vickie...it sounds like you are on a forward , positive path. I feel a change in Dr.s is neceassary for you at this point. Out with the old , stagnant and in with some help for you. I agree that more tests are needed and that a neuro is in order. The ortho can make the recommendation if your PCP doesn't feel comfortable. Either way you will hopefully get the proper treatment. Our injuries change in time. What worked a year ago maybe will cause more pain today. Along with th elight duty restrictions you've been following . You need a Dr. who is still listening a year later when you tell him the work is hurting you more. I don't think a couple of weeks off was too much to ask. Be in touch. Prayers, CAP God is never late. In the end it doesn't matter how many years were in your life but how much life was in your years. |

RE: Update, since Dr. appointment
Cap:
Thank for your response, I'll get what I need or some people are going to get very tired of hearing from me. I have decided that this is the way I'm going to approach the situation, until I get some satisfaction. Even if it means changing doctors every month, I will be fixed, healed or whatever you want to call it. I'm not gonna just stop at someone telling me that they don't know why I'm still in pain. I'm more determined than ever to prove that doctor wrong. I know there is a way to make it better. Take care Vickie |

RE: Update, since Dr. appointment
Like everyone said...GO to your PC and have him or her refer you to a neruologist, or pain management. I am currently in pain management and controlling my pain and left to heal on my own now with PERMANENT injury/restrictions. Do what you need to do to make YOURSELF better. Forget this quack you are seeing. Sounds to me like he has not one good bone in his body of kindness and should never have became a doctor. Ask him how he would like to suffer and hear he is left to heal on his own and you cannot UNDERSTAND his pain!!! Gosh that makes me boil!!!!! Go gettum and get the help you deserve. Good luck : )
PS..when you get to your PC tell them the visit is WC and make sure you get the pink copy slip that you need to send to the ic co. Then you will be covered. carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD. 1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10% |

RE: Update, since Dr. appointment
Hi Vick! I'm so Glad you are going to move forward with another Dr., and Your PCP can receive all of Your Records from Your Attorney, they should have a complete file of Your Health Care! If not, You may have to have them Send a Release Form to all of the Places You've Treated, and They HAVE to Send the Reports!! I Hope these changes are for the Better for You, I know it was for Me, and You receive the Care You Need and Deserve!!!

RE: Update, since Dr. appointment
Sparkey & Limbo:
Thank you for your responses and advice. I do feel that I will get better treatment by changing doctors. I was very surprised at the other Doctors attitude, when I changed from the original one to him, he even commented that If he had started treating me several months before that I probably would have been closer to recovery. Here it is only 4 months later and he doesn't know why I'm still in pain. He was able to get my SI joint unlocked, but that is only one thing that was wrong. I think he just didn't like having suggestions being made from the therapist and the WC. I will feel better after my first visit with the new one, I did see him before and he is very good. I don't think that I will have any problems getting a referral either. The appointment has been switched to Oct.11th instead of the 9th, now. Thanks again Vickie |

Vicki, you poor thing, What a Nightmare. I feel really bad for you, bless your heart. It seems like they cause us more problems, such as stress, depression, more pain, anxiousness, just to name a few. You would think that we could file a claim for frustration, stress, etc. I would not mind going to see someone to talk to, who wouldn't? But WC should pay for it. I mean when an injury can cause some people to even be (God forbid) suicidal. But they don't care. Not even some of the Dr's don't care. Its all bureauocracy. What is wrong w/people? I am starting to think after reading some of these posts and replys that I need to seriously need to get a lawyer. I don't know how to go about it. Any help out there? Do I have to pay upfront or is it on a percentage? I haven't been denied yet, but I got a letter that they haven't admitted fault either, I am in Limbo. Help[/quote]

RE: Update, since Dr. appointment
Vickinat
Do keep us informed about your medical and doctors. How were you able to get your S! joint unlocked? The doctor tells me I have pernament fusion of that joint. My first epidural gave me some relief for a couple of weeks, I hope the one I had done Tuesday last longer. Doctor tells me I have problems with L5, don't understand it all, requesting my medical records. |
