Word of advice !!
I was put at MMI the end of Aug. by my occupational doctor. I was put at PI " permanent injury" and was told that day that i would hear something from someone in my workers comp. insurance to set up a time and doctor to do the rating. I was told from the NCM it could take from months to years before i hear something.
I heard through the grapevine last night from someone that works for workers comp. that they would of made me wait to hear from them for a longggggggg time and that they are not rushing to have the rating done. It is the law but there is no time limit for them to do it. Well, i was told to call the occupational doctor that said he would do my rating and put me at PI and tried to set up an appointment today. The secretary then had to call my NCM to ask her to sign a legal document that they would pay for my visit. The Secretary told me the NCM said she was very surprised i was going for it so soon. Almost like she was going to make me wait for this till SHE was ready. I was told from the secretary that i need to contact my adjuster to ask him to give permission for this doctor to do my rating and sign the legal paperwork when it gets faxed to him so that i can then get my appt. for the rating. I called my adjuster this am, and he was very pleasant on the phone when i asked his permission to sign the legal paperwork when it got faxed to him for my rating. He said he would sign it today. I was surprised he was so nice about it as i do not have a lawyer and did not want to threaten him if he disagreed. Thank god i didn't have to go that way. I am now waiting on the call for my appt. today to be set up. I was told NH has one of the highest pays for permanent impairment and that it will take the doctor about a week to do the paperwork and 15 days before i receive any lump sum payment if the ic agree's to the rating. If not they can send me to their own doctor for a rating and prolong this process. So fingers are crossed that they agree to this rating when done, as he was the doctor they picked for me to have for occupational anyways. This should hopefully go smoothly. Keeping fingers crossed. Just wanted you all to know if you are waiting on the ic to contact you for an appointment for your rating. DO NOT HOLD YOUR BREATH!!! I am thankful i was able to talk to someone to find out this info. If not i could of been waiting for the mail to come with my appt. date for 2 or so years. Who knows? carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD. 1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10% |

RE: Word of advice !!
OK SPARKY,I HATE TO BURST YOUR BUBBLE BUT THERE HAS TO BE A REASON THEY AGREED TO DO THIS SO QUICKLY AND I WOULD IMAGINE THAT THE DOC THAT YOU HAVE MIGHT POSSIBLY GIVE A LOWER RATING, AFTER ALL HE IS THE W/C DOCTOR.I MEAN THINK ABOUT IT,HAS ANYTHING IN W/C GONE RIGHT IF IT GOES QUICKLY,NOT THAT I KNOW OF!!!!!! DON'T MEAN TO BE A DOWNER,BUT SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT!!!!!!!

RE: Word of advice !!
Actually i never did received the phone call back from the doctors office after the adjuster said he would sign the legal papers to set up the appt yet. It has been less than a year but i am at PERMANENT so why should i wait for a year or so to have my rating?
After i got off the phone i spoke with the wc advocate ( my side ) and she said she thought it was to soon to go for as they just closed my case. Why does everyone think it is to soon when i am put at permanent and do not expect a change? The doctors office is booked till Jan of next year so that would be one year since my injury date. PS. i hope this is not to LONG of a post for 1171..LOL carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD. 1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10% |

RE: Word of advice !!
reason for most delays? The WC wants to keep the money in their bank....drawing interest for themselves!
Take care, Lilly Injured worker, & tired of it all! I'm too old for games!! A careless word may kindle strife, a cruel word may wreck a life, a timely word may level stress, and a loving word may heal and bless! |
