Work Disability

I have been told I have a work disability, I am not for sure what this means.

I haven't worked in 18 months due to being release with restrictions and my employer refusing to provide accomodations, I live in Kansas.

Bummer...have you applied for SSDI yet or are you on it. The other thing that crosses my mind is that some states, NJ for example has a temporary work disability. Maybe that is what this person is referring to. Just a thought.. Red

I qualified for SSD earlier this year.

The term "work disability" was in reference to work comp language.

Bummer, This is a very simple explanation of a disability as defined by the California DWC, which is probably standardized:

Disability: A physical or mental impairment that limits your life activities. A condition that makes engaging in physical, social and work activities difficult.

Basically, I think that in workers comp, when a doctor determines that you cannot work, or that you can work with limitations, regardless of whether your employer can or cannot accomodate those limitations, this is considered a "work disability." The disability can be either physical or mental, minor or major, temporary or permanent.
