sending a nurse to Dr visits
Is it legal or common practice for workers comp to send a nurse to go into the Physicians office with me?

RE: sending a nurse to Dr visits
yes she is a spy for the IC...she is not now nor will she ever be YOUR friend....you have the right to ask that she not be present during exam...she will buddy up to you and put a nice sharp one in your back please be careful limit all answers to her to yes,no ,I dont know I am not a doctor

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

So should I refrain from asking the Dr any questions at that time about prognosis or treatments or just let the Dr speak?

RE: sending a nurse to Dr visits
If this is a treating doctor and not an IME, at least in PA, you can tell her to get lost and tell the doctor that he/she is not to have any contact with her at all.

RE: sending a nurse to Dr visits
Zest4life, it is common place for IC's to attempt to intrude on your time with the doctor by sending a nurse case manager to horn in on your appointments. You DO NOT have to allow this person in the room when you are being examined by the doc. That is true in all 50 states. You are wise to refuse this NCM to accompany you to your exams with the doc and you have ever right to refuse them to be in the room. They can talk to your doc after your exam and it is very wise for you to hang around and be in on that meeting. Most treating physicians are not too fond of the likes of these folks as they usually are nothing but trouble. Second guessing the doc and trying to get the doc to release you to work long before you are healed and able to do so.

Sometimes the doctors just get so frustrated with their presence that they make poor decisions where your health care in concerned just to be rid of the pests that the NCM make of themselves. Be very careful as the others have told you in anything you tell this NCM. Anything you say will be twisted and used against you.

Take care and Be Well,
ND

Zest4life....Since everyone has pretty much let you know that NCM are not a good thing. I don't have to tell you that...I just wanted to say WELCOME to the forum....we are HAPPY to have you here. You did a smart thing by joining. Trying to get through the WC system is not a easy thing to do. Being injuried and needing nothing more then health care and GOOD health care is not that much to ask but trying to figure out the system can be very stressful. But you will find everyone here very helpful alot of them are very knowledgeable about the system. I am not...I came here looking for anwsers to alot of questions I had...and they where my saving grace...but you will also find alot of support. So when you find time please come down to the Off Topic section you will also find alot support there...and a place to vent...laugh...play a game. It's just a place to get away from all the stress that can come with dealing with WC....so please come down and introduce yourself. Again WELCOME to our little family.
