Broken Arm 4 days ago and still not fixed
My mother broke 2 bones in her wrist on Saturday afternoon while at work. She slipped on some water that was on the floor. The hospital put a cast on it and told her she would need surgery to fix it. Workmens comp still has not done the paper work so she can get it fixed. How long does this take? She is walking around with 2 broken bones and I am just furious about this. She lives in GA. Thanks for any information you can give me.

who/what do you mean by "workmen's comp"-adjuster, carrier, state board, employer/HR contact?
there is no paperwork needed. the insurance carrier can authorize care to the doctor or hospital by phone.
have your mother contact the carrier directly.

It is the adjuster. The adjuster said they just received the claim number from the employer yesterday and is saying that it will take 24 to 48 to process. Employer had info in system right away. My mother said she is waiting for them to tell her what doctor to go to and set up the appointment. I hope this makes since. HELP PLEASE!!!

from the link I gave you:
Your employer is required to post a list of at least six doctors or the name of the certified WC/MCO which provides medical care. You may choose a doctor from the list and make one change to another doctor on the list without the permission of your employer. However, in an emergency, you may get temporary medical care from any doctor until the emergency is over; then you must get treatment from a doctor on the posted list.

Thank you for the information but the problem is that the W/C "adjuster" is telling her that she cannot see any of those doctors until the adjuster finishes processing the paper work. The information on those links do not say anything about what to do or when you can go ahead and see one of those doctors.

you are correct.
if it's not an emergency go to any doctor on the list.
if it is an emergency go to any doctor.
if it's neither she has to wait.

maybe she should contact the state directly

Thank you for your help! She finally just got the call that she can now go to one of the doctors on the list and is making an appointment now. It ONLY took 4 days!

Can anyone imagine walking around in pain with 2 broken bones for 4 days and waiting for someone to do the paper work so you can get it fixed?

If having 2 broken bones is not considered an emergency then shame on them!!! This was ridiculous to say the least!!!!

Again thank you for your help!
