Unfiled Work Injury, now fired.
A couple months ago, I noticed pain in my arm when holding something for a period of time or just keeping it bent for a certain time. The lady who has the HR duties was off on maternity leave so I was told to write her a not and leave it in her mailbox. I did that and continued to work even though I was in pain daily. A couple weeks later, I tore the cartilage in my knee and ended up having knee surgery. I was off work for 3 weeks and then put on light duty. I never actually filed a claim other than writing the note. I've been back to work for 2 weeks now and I went in today as normal. I was called into the office right away and I was terminated. Is there anything I can do about this injury under workers comp now that I'm no longer employed by them? My arm is still in pain and I have not seen a doctor for it because I didn't think it would look good with 2 injuries at the same time. Thank you in advance for any and all advice. This is in Wisconsin.

RE: Unfiled Work Injury, now fired.
yes, if the doctor believes your arm pain is related to your work duties you can still file.
the fact that you did not seek treatment right away and waited until you were fire will likely cause them the question it so don't expect them to approve benefits quickly. unless things turn around, Wisconsin is becoming unfriendly to workers. more on how to file here http://dwd.wisconsin.gov/wc/workers/fileaclaim.htm |

RE: Unfiled Work Injury, now fired.
I am unaware of your state regs. and laws regaurding WC.. However I am sure that there is a time frame to file with the IC or the state. You may want to look into that tomorrow.
8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins. Soilders died for our freedom. |
