RE: what now
Hello Kentuckygal! Welcome to the forum. I really don't know anything about rehab, I haven't reached MMI yet. Maybe at my Dr's appointment tomorrow I will. I had an L-4, L-5 discectomy, laminectomy in June. Did you have to have surgery?
I just wanted to tell you to be patient, someone that can answer your question will be along shortly! |

RE: what now
A while back, I had my last fce. It was noted that I could not return to my line of work. About a month ago I contacted my state voc. rehab. program for assistance. I to have a back injury. I am at mmi and in two weeks I will get the ir done. As far as the voc. rehab., it takes 60 days for them to decide weather or not they can help me. It is probably different from state to state. You may want to call your state program tomorrow. http://ovr.ky.gov/general_information/Co..._Guide.htm take care.
8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins. Soilders died for our freedom. |

RE: what now
What did the dr say is wrong with your back? What kind of work did you do when you were injured? I think the vocational rehab will try to train you for a job within your restrictions. I wish you the best and please let us know how everything goes.
One more thing, come over to the off topic area. That's where we get to know each other, vent, laugh and cry. We also play games. There is a game ending tonight that you can still get in on. One of the gals is offering one of her beautiful plants to whoever can guess her water bill. |

OHIO here, have you tried going to another doctor for a second opinion? is your case worker for w/c or more of an attourney? my first w/c doctor just gave me shots and pills, no xrays or anything! then he "tried" to adjust my shoulder and he hurt it so much i cried! he then wanted me to start physical therapy, but without an xray or anything i refused till i was SURE THATS WHAT I NEEDED he wrote me off as MMI so i contacted an attourney, and was set up with a doctor that took x rays right away, after working with my shoulder and getting the imflamation down then we started phy. therapy. my current doctor said the first doctor abused me as a patient, even one of the nurses at the first doctors office said the same. |

RE: what now
Kentuckygirl, Was this a WC doctor you were seeing?, Did you have a MRI or any other tests for your back? I will tell you from my experiance as a nurse that you can reinjure your back if you go back to the same line of work, with all the lifting ,pulling, transferring you are just putting yourself back in harms way. I don't know your states rules , can you get another opinion? If you are still in that much pain you do not belong going back to work. and should see another Doctor, Just my opinion. Welcome to the boards and good luck

RE: what now
![]() the guidebook has general info on kentucky's work comp benefits and procedures http://www.labor.ky.gov/NR/rdonlyres/8F1...debook.pdf ![]() "Kentucky law provides retraining benefits for those who are unable to perform work for which they have previous training or experience, due to the effects of work related injuries. In addition to paying costs such as tuition and textbooks for up to 52 weeks, insurance companies may also provide financial assistance with the costs of transportation, lodging and meals. On a case by case basis, additional periods of training may be awarded. After a claim has been filed, an award decided and the Administrative Law Judge determines that a vocational evaluation is necessary, injured workers are referred to the Office’s Vocational Rehabilitation section. Evaluations are scheduled for the injured worker by the Office’s staff members and are conducted at assessment centers located throughout the state."
