Depends on if you are negotiating a buyout of all benefits or you are just determining your your permanent disability award.
if there are other issues e.g. medical reimbursement, liens, TD, etc.
they would be extra.

WC has paid for everything so far(im lucky there) but thats what i mean if im perm disabled id get 20 grand, that wouldnt last six months, thats like a slap in the face, they said theyd pay for school but thats nothing too if your at a dead end job with nothing to advance to. it would be nice to have a lawyer that actually cared. thanks 1171

RE: mmi calculation
unfortunately it's not meant as a substitute for another job or to live on without another job.
permanent disability $$ is to offset possible wage loss/salary differential if you have to change jobs.

expectations are what really aggravates those who think comp is like health insurance and the settlements are like what you get in civil negligence or tort law.

yes your right, from reading all these posts and what everyong has gone through my expectations were really low, just not THAT low. the jobs that you can get with restrictions(if any in this market) coupled with that kind of money from a settlement, if you didnt go through any kind of depression you sure will then, when you realize it can still get alot worse, and it will. talk about kicking when your down, cause i can kiss this house goodbye now, everything youve worked for while making other people money is now gone. literally soul crushing. thanks again 1171, i appreciate your honesty. you rarely get that.

RE: mmi calculation
dont forget your lawyer is gonna get 33% of that....just saying alot of laws need to be changed to protect workers

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile
