RE: piroxicam/ tramadol
piroxicam is generic for Feldene. Prolly like 20mg 1x daily...
i'm on that, and it's 100000000000000000x better than the ibuprofen. Same class drug NSAID, as always risk of stoumache bleeding, but I have had absolutely no negative side effects. only thing it does negative, is that with the swelling down, sholder feels a little "looser" and with experience prior to surgery it's not as loose, but still a little scarey.
Give it a week of daily dosing before expecting full relief.

RE: piroxicam/ tramadol
http://www.rxlist.com will give you info on the drugs

I don't know what dosages you are taking as far as the tramadol - but here is the problem - tramadol contains tylenol if I remember correctly and if you are mixing a nsaid and tylenol then to much can be bad for your liver and kidneys.

I took tramadol at 37.52/625 mgs 2 x daily so 100 mgs daily but was also allowed to take 1000 mgs of tylenol along with that through out the day for my break through migraines at that time since I was also on other meds for migraines as well. My PCP would not approve me to take more that that in tylenol nor would she approve me to take ibuprofin after I had an abnormal kidney test because of the ibuprofin and tylenol concoction that WC had me on - i.e. every 4 hours I was taking one or the other so basically was killing my kidneys.

As far as helping with pain - it worked for me - but you have to remember I have nerve pain and tramadol and ultram work well for that type of pain along with other meds. It may or may not work for you. It is a non-narcotic by class but it can make you drowsy until you get use to taking it just like any pain medication. Once ultram stopped working for 8 hour periods that is when my pcp put me on tramadol to see if it would work for me for the longer period of time. I must also stress, I am sensitive to pain medications so what some would take and may not affect them may knock me out for quite a while. It took me from 2003 when I was first prescribed Ultram until 2006 to move up to darvocet. So I am on each medication for quite a while before I move to the next level. Still not ready to move to next level yet of narcotic as darvocet still kicks me to the bed for the day and we are talking 18 months after starting it. But I am one that has to do alternative therapy treatment for pain alot of time before I reach for the pain pills just because of that reason. Hope that explain things.

RE: piroxicam/ tramadol
I also used both the Tramadol and Ultram, and it did work well for me before my Pain got to the point that I need to go higher on the Meds. Scale. I had very bad side effects to Vicodin, and even though Tramadol is not as powerful as Vicodin, and I had to take more of it, my side effects went away and that helped me a lot! The Medicine has been used in England for Years, and is just getting a foothold Here in the U.S.,but I would like to caution you on one thing. Although many Dr,'s here will tell you it is not addicting, many research studies in England have found it to be addicting, so I don't know if this is going to be long or short term for you, I would guess it's going to be short term due to it's strength levels. You want to ween yourself off of the Med. when it's time, discuss this with your Dr. stopping "Cold Turkey" may produce withdrawal effects. I Hope this has Helped, and Enjoy your Holiday!!Wink
