Missouri.Sole Prop & Workers Comp?
As a Sole Prop in Missouri I have been asked by a client to provide Workers Comp to complete a contract. I have NO employees and this is a part time mobile DJ business. I have purchased Liability Insurance, but Workers Comp is out of my knowledge.

The client insists I need this to be used by them. However everything I find states that there is no requirement in any state for a Single Sole Prop. to carry this coverage.

Can anyone shed light on how to deal with my Client? I have researched Workers Comp in Missouri and it's over $1200/Ridiculous for just me. The Agent and the Underwriter both said they had never heard of this before and thought it to be highly irregular.

RE: Missouri.Sole Prop & Workers Comp?
sometimes there is little you can do to satisfy what you consider an unreasonable demand.
workers comp is not required but is voluntary in your situation.
I suggest you provide a written confirmation from the Missouri dept of labor or have them go to this website
http://labor.mo.gov/DWC/Employers/

of course, they could be aware of law and want to hire only those who have volunteered for coverage, which is their prerogative.
